Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This photo appeared on Facebook. The rear bed extension is either a one-off customization or a dealer-related modification. Either way, I’ve not seen another one of these.
The photo was take of Joe Smith by his son Albert Smith, Sr. It was posted to FB by Douglas Elliott.
It reminded me that these two unusual, extended 2As were also from Seattle (taken at Arthur Warn’s service station. I’ve never seen another like this or the one at the top.
David Tracy writes about the engineering flaw that makes the WWII jeep dangerous, taking a close look about how that happens. The article’s title (The Legendary World War II Jeep Had a Dangerous Engineering Flaw) seems a bit hyperbolic, but, as usual, his article is good.

Sounds like it is a fictional book based on the Rat Patrol. It is 210 pages.

From the ad: “Rare dodge XM195 military prototype vehicle built in 1950. 3 of these were made for the military to test. This is the only known survivor. This vehicle is a smaller version of the dodge M37. This vehicle was intended to be a possible replacement for the Jeep. The bed of the truck is missing. It does have many original parts. It does have original dated tires and has original bead clips still in the rims. This truck does not run. It does need extensive restoration.”

Condition of jeeps vary, but there are MBs/GPWs, VEC CJ-2As, CJ-2As and more. The location appears to be southeast of Portland (Happy Valley area). Auctioner will publish address a week before the scheduled auction date.
