Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. A reader was wondering if anyone knew what model of Ramsey winch this was? Most of my books are back in Pasco and the internet wasn’t too helpful. Anyone know?

Tim spotted this one. Looks promising.
“A 1961 Jeep CJ5 with Warn Overdrive. This jeep has 68,000 original miles. With the exception of the tires and new suspension, the Jeep is all original as factory shipped. It is in very good condition, very reliable, and very gently used. Vehicle was acquired 20 years ago from a PA estate sale.
The original body has been patched. The frame is solid. The body under carriage has surface rust, and was patched, as to be expected for a 57 year old vehicle, but is very solid for its age. The body was repainted to match the original color (sky blue). The paint is in good condition, but certainly not show quality.

“I bought this truck last summer hoping to make it my project truck but living in the city and not having a shop I bit off much more than I can chew. Now looking to sell it and get some of my money back on it. I think it would make an awesome restore project but someone that has the time and expertise. The guy I bought it from told me that the motor would turn over and it’s not locked up. I haven’t personally crank it though. It did have oil in it. I started to break down some of the parts planning to sand them and clean them up a bit but I still have everything you see in the pictures except the seats. They were pretty far gone.

Using the Heath Hitch, a person could attach several different attachments. This brochure came from a late 1940s Willys-Overland Equipment Book.

Early post war production with column shift and Rear Drum PTO. 1000 miles on motor rebuild and 4wd is completely operational. Great on road and off road vehicle. Much cheaper alternative then buying an expensive polaris. Great for a lake community. New seats and correct wheel and body color for production time. Many spare parts included. $11,500 OBO MUST SELL!!!!”

“This is one great piece of History. Has half of century old lettering on the body. This is something that is an Amazingly rare find. After being stored away for 40 years. Our mechanic had the engine running on April 22nd.”
This is near the coast, about as far southwest in Washington state as a person can get. This is listed as a 1942.

Travis spotted this rare Hurst Jeepster Commando model. However, it looks like this one has added gauges in the middle of the dash. (This video shows a stock dash, though the Hurst Badge on the hood appears incorrect). Here are some black and white photos of a HJC.

Rebuilt V6 225 engine, new timing chain, distributor, water pump, gas tank and sender, new tires and brakes, hoses with correct dauntless engine decals. Has rare special sales order plate. New interior, headliner, seat covers and paint. Recent paint and chrome, stripes and freshly painted engine compartment, undercoated body. NOS owner’s and repair manual. 74,125 original miles.”
