Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Patterson has a Harrison Heater, common in the early DJ-3As. Attached at the bottom of the dash is an Ark-Less four position switch (Off, Low, Medium, High) that controls the fan speed. The switch wasn’t delivering current, so I spent the day figuring out how to pull it apart and clean it up in the hopes that the switch could be resurrected.
The switch is held together by a long pin in the center. The switch also rotates on this pin. To remove the pin, the rounded edges on the pin must be drilled/pressed together/or someone modified. I chose to drill out the ends.

Now, here’s my switch. It received some paint when Patterson was repainted (I believe the paint was touched up some at some point). Once I drilled out the end of the pin a little, I used the nail to push the pin through.
Here’s the other side of the pin. Now that it is sticking up, I can remove it.
Pin removed. I didn’t put much pressure on the pin when I first pushed it through, so I *think* the pin was already bent somehow.

“This Jeepster has had a frame off restoration. I would not call it show room quality, but very nice and presents well. The engine has been rebuilt and it is ready to drive. There were roughly only 20,000 of these made and they are very difficult to find. The interior has all been redone and I could not find any rust on it. It has never seen the rain. The restore job was done about 20 years ago. I drove it up to my house and the gentleman I bought it from drove it around also. The title is clean.”

It looks like they armory did a good job with the restoration.
“Up for sale is my 1952 Willys Jeep. It has been completely restored by red river armory. It has been sitting for a while but is in excellent condition. Recent upgrades were new gas tank, fuel line, carb rebuild, new batteries, new pick up and tank pump. It has started and ran for about 30 seconds. Radiator has been cleaned and repaired as well. Make me an offer, this is a classic!”
Looks in great shape. The engine uses a modern filter.
“Nicely restored 1950 Willys Jeepster. 6 cxl. engine. Recently gone over by local mechanic and given a clean bill of health.
This car was restored in 1998. I have many picture of the restoration, Engine removed and rebuilt. Body professionally repainted. 12v. system. New carburetor. The restoration even included a CD player an AC. (The AC is under dash, did not mess up the dash, and can be easily removed)
This car sold a few years ago for $20K. (I have documentation). I purchased it for less last year. I have had fun with the car, but some priorities have changed, so now want to find it a new home.
This Jeepster runs very well and feels good at higher speed . Tires are in good shape Paint in excellent shape. Color is a deep gray and appears to have been done quite professionally. Body is in excellent condition. Top and side curtains just OK. ”

“Great project all there except for the fuel tank. It even has the Jerry can holder. Has been converted to 12 volt has an alternator. New tubes in the tires. Has shocks added to the front.Transmission is stuck but engine turns. Great patina verry solid body if this thing could talk all the stories it would tell.$2,000 cash firm. Or trade for a tractor I may trade for other things just let me know. But price only goes north once I start working on it. Cash only face-to-face transactions. I don’t need help selling it. “48 Willy’s pickup. Runs and drives, brakes are a little spongy and need bled. 4×4 works good. 3 speed on the column. Has a v6 out of a 79 mustang that’s rebuilt with very low hours. It’s a project, but pretty solid. Have title.”
