Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I can’t recall a top with a long narrow window across the back like that. Look like a halftone, yet it doesn’t have a section that fits within the cargo area.

(03/20/2017) Has a few updates.
“Refurbished classic CJ. Engine rebuilt, cylinders sleeved, and assembled with balanced parts at 10 over. Steering conversion and shackle reversal done by Stage West. Transmission & transfer case rebuilt by National Transmission. 11X2 brake conversion, 4″ Rancho lift, Jacobs electronic ignition, and Advance Adapters chain clutch control. Meyer hardtop and bikini for the summer. Recored radiator, restitched upholstery ( marine grade vinyl ) Durabak truck bed liner in cab, engine bay, and undercarriage. Vintage Warn 8270 winch, alternator conversion and Optima battery. And much more.
All this work was completed in 1999 with 43,000 on the odometer. It now has 51,413. I just don’t drive it enough to keep it. I haven’t driven it in months so the brake cylinders will need attention. Spare transmission and transfer case included at the asking price”

(01/082017) A pretty rare late model Canadian M-38A1. Engine looks good, but needs body work at the ver least.
“Selling a 1970 m38a1 CDN 3 military Jeep. I bought it last year to fix up but I have too many projects. It runs good. It will need batteries, fuel tank repaired, body work all the way around. It needs the front passenger side axle shaft replaced as well. The frame is good, needs the rear cross member. Includes the soft top hard ware and metal pieces for doors and side curtains. Comes with a set of nice fenders from a DJ. I have the front seats also. Sold with a bill of sale only as VT does not title vehicles over 15 years old. Located in Colchester, VT. I can get it loaded on your trailer. Cash only, no trades.”

Ann and I with Lake Mead behind us. It’s great to see her feeling better and traveling again.
On Tuesday, we made a long drive to Salt Lake City where we enjoyed dinner with my kids. Unfortunately, we are so out of the practice of traveling that we forgot to take ANY photos!
On Wednesday, we made a short drive to Mesquite, Nevada, where we spent the night at a remodeled hotel called the Rising Star Sports Ranch, a place with a sports theme and without a bar or casino. it was cheap, but nice, so I was fine with that. I did NO work; instead we enjoyed an evening together. However, we did make this video which documents a robot that comes to your door to deliver food and drinks from the hotel’s concession. The delivery charge was $3, but Ann was so excited, it was worth the cost.
On Thursday, we traveled from Mesquite, Nevada, to Kingman, Arizona. We began our morning driving south on I-15. When we approached Nevada State Highway 169, we turned south.

Highway 169 turned out to be a beautiful drive. One of the first things of interest we encountered was this Rooster themed bar in the Moapa Valley area.
Moapa Valley gave way to red rock, short grass, sage brush, and long views toward Lake Mead. We were all alone was we slowly followed the highway toward our first stop of the day: Valley of Fire State Park. I’d planned to stop in here last year as we drove south down Nevada, but we ran out of time.
You’ll note that our red jeep Henry was retired in favor of this ??? colored Jeep (we still aren’t sure what color it is — maybe purple, maybe dark blue, has some metaflakes). We call her Dolores, after the main character in Westworld (the new HBO show about robots that become sentient). Dolores is a roving hotspot, capable of sending messages to us or to her creator, the Jeep Corp. Kinda troublesome really.

“1969 KAISER JEEP CJ-5 RARE 289V6 with ORIGINAL SPRING GREEN PAINT (TRUE SURVIVOR). Up for sale is our ’69 Kaiser Jeep with the RARE 289 V6 in original Spring Green paint. Mostly a garage queen its entire life, this Jeep has it’s original coat of paint, which shows extremely well. Has had all new gas shocks installed as well as new battery, rebuilt carb, (comes with a brand new carb as well), and many more maintenance items completed recently. Runs and drives great, does not leak oil and has little to no rust on the body. 4WD functions perfectly. Very well preserved example. Has original miles as well. Inspections welcome. All serious inquiries will be considered.”
