The San Francisco area’s East Bay Times reported on Scott Steven’s 1942 GPW. Read all about it here: http://www.eastbaytimes.com/2016/12/05/me-my-car-42-jeep-as-spartan-as-they-come/
UPDATE: Sold for $46,750.
This 1960 DJ-3A Surrey will be auctioned in January of 2017 by Sotheby’s. The jeep is described as a “beautifully presented flawless restoration”. That statement is followed by a series of inaccurate statements regarding the history of DJ-3A, such as the DJ-3A was introduced in 1955 (nope 1956). You can see all the pics and information here:
As Colin pointed out to Sotheby’s, despite some great work on this, there are actually numerous flaws with this restoration:

“An authentic, 1944 U.S. Army 4cyl, Willys MB Jeep, VIN#
MB 383450 with just over 26,000 original miles. It is completely operational with many accessories, including the top, spare, tools and implements. We have brought the jeep up to approximately 90-95% operation and appearance. This jeep is show worthy but runs a little rough, determined to be a minor problem by my mechanic. The driver\’s seat was extended with a kit for steering wheel and leg comfort. I can also provide to a serious buyer all that was invested in the restoration.
We are selling this Willys MB because, we were unable to get any Kentucky grant funding for acquisition and the full restoration; Our personal investment had reached its limit.”
Thanks to Joe for this one. The current bid on this is already $10,010.
