This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1953 Willys CJ3B high hood Jeep. Hurricane 134ci overhead valve engine. All stock drive train. New gas tank. 8,000 pound Superwinch. Fresh black powder coat on roll bar, OEM wheels (not pictured), windshield frame, and lots of trim parts. Runs and drives, clean pink, current registration. Good project. We started on it, but have moved on to other projects. ”

Here’s a neat postcard image that John shared with me. Unfortunately, there’s nothing to indicate the year. Based on the comment that tops are available in canvas, plastic, and wood, this is likely a late ’40s postcard.

“1951 Willy’s Jeepster convertible. Restored in the late 1960’s early 1970’s then sat until 3 years ago. Motor completely rebuilt, new clutch and pressure plate, new gas tank and sending unit, rebuilt carburetor, brakes, wipers converted to electric, new battery, newer top, new tires and all lines have been replaced. Car runs and drives, very reliable. Floors and trunk is rust free and no visible rust on exterior. Paint is from the late 1960’s and has some scratches but presents very nice. Rare lightning six engine with manual trans and overdrive. Many spare parts including another set of rust free fenders, hood and grill. $8900 other pics available”

Title lost. It is listed as a 1948, but might be a CJ-3A.
“48 Willys Jeep, original engine, 6 volts, transfer case driven winch. Has been in family 3 generations, used for hunting, logging, off-road. Its rough but ran when parked 5 years ago, will need new 6v battery to start. No title, was lost, will write out bill of sale. ”
