The 1947 Craftsman Annual Project Magazine contains forty-four wide ranging projects for the builder who was to try constructing everyone. Of course, there’s a battery toy jeep project among the items (directions shown below), but also included in the magazine are plans for building from scratch a welder, a battery-less telephone, a Jolly Roger boat, a hand vise, a rocket, a farm tractor (from car parts), and much more.

Lots of updates.
“1952 flatfender jeep. This is a trail jeep. Has a clean title and is registered. I say it’s a trail jeep because it will only go 50 mph. I drive on the street short distances every couple weeks. It has a Chevy 4.3 V6 engine, a sm420 granny low 4 speed transmission, and a Dana/spicer 18 transfer case. Dana 44 axles out of a wagoneer front has a lock right locker and rear is a spool. Both have 5.38 ratios. 36×12.5-15 super swamper radials almost new on beadlocks rims. 4 wheel disc brakes. Spring over suspension in stock yj wrangler springs.”
1952 or 53 M-38A1 Reidsville, NC $5000
Mark posted this M-38A1 over at warjeeps.com.
“Either a 52 or 53 willys M38a1, has been converted to 12 volt system. Engine runs strong, all four wheel drive low and high range work. New shackles, kingpin bearings, tie rods, and draglink. Needs original steering wheel put back on, has aftermarket now. Steering gear has slight leak and needs new gasket. Has hardtop and aftermarket heater in it. New exhaust this year. Carb is aftermarket solex. Starts everytime, runs good, just needs little work in steering etc….Not a lot of rust, floorpans good, a little bondo here and there but not alot. Would be a good candidate for restoration.”
