Paul’s getting close. Over the last six years we’ve watched him build this stainless monument to jeeps. Just some little things to be completed. Maybe 2020????
Search for 1949 CJ-2A Stolen in Columbia, SC 8 Years Ago
Shane shared with me his story about his stolen CJ-2A (rare 1949). He hoped people would be on the look out for it.
Howdy, Flat Fender Fam! Duffer over on earlycj5 suggested I post up over here and see if any of the 2a purists might have some leads…I’ve been rekindling a search that started 8 years ago and I figured I’d see if anyone has any leads. In August 2007 I purchased an actual 1949 CJ2A off eBay. It was grey with a white soft top (no doors when taken), dauntless V6, black steelies, 31″ A/T’s, Saginaw swap and high back vinyl buckets. It was stolen in late November/early December of that year from a parking lot in downtown Columbia, SC. I haven’t seen or heard anything about it since and my police report surprisingly turned up no info. I have recently been using search tools online to gather more info, but have yet to find anything concrete. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pics. It has an Illinois title which I never switched over. The serial number is 223788. If anyone can post this on other forums and spread the word or has any info I would be forever grateful. Thanks in advance.

“For sale 1981 Postal jeep. Iron Duke motor that runs great. Newer paint job with new lights. All interior switches work along with light on top and interior fan. Added a passenger seat among other things added. Dixie air horn mounted but not yet hooked into battery. Automatic right hand drive, great little truck. Not sure on Mileage because the Odometer has flipped and it is a postal Jeep which the Gov. probably ran it like crazy but you can tell they maintained it. ”
1952 M-38 Philadelphia, PA **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4400
Needs some wiring, but may be worth a look.
“Body-off-frame metalwork, with frame and underbody painted years ago. Exterior paint and body work has not been completed.
Two new batteries, points, coil, and wires
Valves adjusted
24V electrical system
Starter turns slowly – could use a rebuild. Starts with hand-crank.
Good power on acceleration and running down the road, but idle is not smooth — may be carburetor related .
Brake system has been rebuilt years ago, and works well.
Gas tank in excellent condition, and appears to have been coated internally.
Will need wiring work to make lights functional.”

1952 M-38A1 Fresno, CA **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000. The seller tells me this was owned by Larry Minor.
This has a couple classic Fresno upgrades like the doors and the dash. I learned the other day that Edgewood 4×4 near Tacoma, Washington, used to sell a custom fiberglass dash for M-38A1s/CJ-5s. I’ll try to find some pics. I saw one in person, but didn’t have a camera with me.
