Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (03/09/2014) There are a few items missing. The rear end has been rebuilt with diamond plating.
“For Sale 1948 Willys CJ-2A Jeep. Impressive and well maintained early Jeep Excellent drive train. GPW (Ford WWII military engine) runs like a top, good oil pressure with no smoke. New battery and the system has been converted to 12 volt. This Jeep is about as stock as you will find: with the exception of the body. The bed and rear fenders have been professionally rebuilt. The transmission and transfer case have been rebuilt and the 5:38 to 1 ratio axles are smooth and quiet. The steering is very tight. Original 2 piece windshield is in good shape. Good seat frames and cushions. Starts and runs good. It will need a brake job to insure it is safe to drive. The wiring has been partially redone and all lights work. Tires have some age on them but have like new tread.
Available: rear seat, custom 4 wheel trailer to haul early CJ jeep

Marc found this interesting photo. Note they are marked “US ARMY” across the windshield. Was that to stop the Navy guys from stealing them?
“From Lt Robert D. McTierney, Hawaii Photo Album stationed at Ft. Shafter, Oahu. The first dates written in the album part way through the album are from early 1942 to Christmas 1942, he was with QM.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $10,000. This has a V8 in it.
