Roger’s Newest Toy Find

Roger Martin bought this cool, Marine-made jeep.

He wrote, “I bought another Jeep. It was built by marine in August of 1948. He was a machinist on a ship during the war. The wheels are made out of solid brass. The toy is pretty heavy. I bought it from a guy yesterday who bought it in 1970 from the widow of the original owner that built it. The Marine that built it worked for Fisher body in Cincinnati, Ohio.”

“This 1952 Willys M38A1 MD has been refinished in blue bedliner material and is powered by a Ford 302ci V8 linked to a T18 four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a Warn overdrive unit. The interior is equipped with bucket seats trimmed in black, and equipment includes a roll cage with a roof covering, 15″ wheels, two spares, a front tow bar, a winch, dual 15-gallon fuel tanks, and a jerrycan. An included Dunbar Kapple M-100 trailer has been modified with a rear tailgate and finished to match the truck, and a Smittybilt pop-up tent is mounted on top of the trailer. Approximately 5k miles are said to have been added since completion of the refurbishment approximately three years ago, and the current owner acquired the truck and trailer in 2014 and 2015, respectively. This modified Willys and Dunbar trailer are now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment, and both vehicles have their own California titles.”

“For sale is a complete and running Government Issue Survivor 1943 Ford GPW flat fender Jeep (same as Willys MB but manufactured by Ford to keep up with demand during the war… if you are reading this you probably already know that). Still has the original flathead four-cylinder engine and original running gear. Has new Coker / Firestone military NDT tires. Has military canvas and soft top bows. Only thing missing is the emergency brake assembly. Lots of newer odds and ends like steering box rebuild, fuel pump, drivelines rebuilt and fresh seat cushions and military OD green canvas upholstery. This particular unit was a Navy Jeep during its service lift as evidenced by the two holes above the glove box for the USN id tags. Cash or cashiers check only. Do not even think about low balling I do not need to sell it that bad.

1947? DJ-3A/CJ Dalton, OH $2200

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, DJ-3A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Tom shared this flattie for sale. This looks to be a DJ-3A Convertible body on a CJ chassis (probably 2A based on the engine and radiator). I’m betting the gas inlet on the driver’s side is a mod.

“Have 1947 with title Tub had plate on saying 1954 took off to check and lost them in house remodeling . Did lots of work on it 11 years ago , new wiring , water pump, head gasket was leaking ( shaved head .015), fuel/water separator, new brakes and master cylinder, new muffler and homemade Bimini top. Always smoked and not a lot of power, but plowed snow good. Daughter was driving it about 6 years ago and she said it started smoking and nocking and would not run right. Been sitting in garage. Since. Don’t have time to rebuild flat head motor or the cash right now. Block is in good shape. I installed large bumper and boxed front of frame for snow plow, have original bumper. Added Reece hitch. It has PTO hook up but they never put leaver through floor. Decided need 24’ enclosed trailer instead….lol Have extra springs and steering linkage Did compression test 55,57,72 & 75 starting on #1 . Askin $2200 obo if anyone is interest”
