Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is a 1949 Willy’s Jeep that is owned by my wife’s uncle. It used to be his daily driver but doesn’t run now. Due to some unforseen circumstances they need to sell this although he didn’t want to. Please feel free to call him with questions or to come look at it and make an offer. This would make a great rebuilder or project Jeep for someone!”
The jeep looks very original and in reasonably good condition. I suspect the price will drop slightly.

Though this is a VEC columnshift CJ-2A, it doesn’t have the side indents, though they may have been replaced with a sheet metal patch. It does have a rare, wooden interior you won’t find on most jeeps… lol
“LOOK! 1946 Willys Jeep cj2a. This is a low serial number vehicle, a Very Early Cilvilian model with the rare column shift. The body has the indents for the ax and shovel. It has a home made wooden cab and has been changed to 12 volts with a GM Delco alternator. “1949 Jeep with trailer. Original body and frame. Fresh GM V6 engine with crane cam, edel brock manifold and 600 CFM carb., AX-15 five speed trans. with OD. New radiator and power steering. New tires and wheels (6). Small crack in finish in middle of hood. Runs great, always a hit in parades and shows. Successful bidder may drive. Guaranteed no disappointments. Located in Anderson, SC.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1550.
Here’s what appears to be a good price on a running, low mileage CJ-5 with a plow. I’m not sure how it got so much rust if it was garaged for 44 years.

From what the pics show, this is a great price on what looks like a cj-2a in very good shape. Hop on this deal before it’s gone.

“WE USED THE JEEP ON OUR RANCH FOR YEARS ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO WE BACKED IT UP UNDER A MESQUITE TREE AND PARKED IT, DUE TO THE FACT WE GOT A NEWER JEEP TO USE. THE JEEP DOES HAVE SOME RUST BUT NOT TO BAD FOR THE AGE OF IT AND I HAVE LOOKED AT SOME THAT WERE THIS AGE AND WERE A WHOLE LOT WORSE. ORIGINAL FLAT HEAD MOTOR, WAS REBUILT, YEARS AGO. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL SEATS IN IT TO, DRIVERS SEAT NEEDS TO BE PUT BACK ON. I HAVE TAKEN SEVERAL PICTURES OF IT, I HOPE THEY WILL HELP YOU OUT….”
UPDATE: Seller has posted the jeep on eBay with many pics.
The seller would like to get at least $1700, but the reserve is $1300. Based on the pics, this is definitely an MB that has been modified to look CJ-2Aish (grill modified and tailgate added).
“The jeep runs and drives. It has newer front and rear seats. The data plates are missing, on the glovebox. It also has a 6 point roll bar, and later model rims and tires. It has a unique one of a kind front grill. I have a tow bar that comes with it. Great for restoration or custom mod rock crawler. Oregon title in hand. Need to sell due to job loss.”
UPDATE: With the help of eWillys, Bill sold his jeep. I’ll keep this for historical purposes.
Bill contacted me about selling this jeep he and his grandson have worked on for a few years. I suspect this good looking jeep was simply a bonus to that special time they enjoyed together.
Bill writes, “I have a 1948 Jeep cj2a that I bought in Black Mountain, NC. That was 4 years ago. I have done as much as I can to it. It runs great and we had fun working on it. My grandson Josh and I hung out together for quite a long time and that was fun. ”
Jim found this super cool truck. You could probably even get some long ramps and park your jeep on top of it — if you are brave.
