Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The price will likely drop for this project, but the pictures suggest the seller is right: This looks to be a good base for a project jeep.
"1969 CJ5 Jeep $3,500 Or Best Offer. Great start on an excellent jeep. Clear Oregon title, new mandrel bent box tube frame, new Rubicon Express springs, shackles and spring plates, small block chevy motor with turbo 400 transmission, locker rear end, complete tub that was media blasted with replaced floor and fire wall to fit motor. I think this is the first jeep I've posted from Alabama. Either that's a brand new body or someone has taken very good care of that jeep.

Tomorrow, the 2008 PNW4WDA summer convention starts. This 3 day annual event used to be enormous, attracting clubs and hundreds of jeeps from all over the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Now, it's a much more intimate event, but still fun.
Obviously, I didn't get my jeep done in time for Summer Convention this year, but it will be ready next year for some jeeping and some racing!

“1954 Jeep Willys 3b project. This Jeep would make a perfect project or with a little work make the pefect Hunters Jeep. It has the High hood, Buick V6 motor and a PTO winch. It has been sitting for a few years and at this time does not run. If you have any questions give me a call and I will answer them the best I can.”
I went shopping at the junkyard today. After a couple hours I came back with a steel fan and a flex fan (I couldn’t decided between them), a transmission cooler, some brake lines, and some other parts. Yes, I had fun as usual and was only out $15.
I tried mounting the steel fan, but the bolt holes weren’t quite right. I tried the flex fan and that will work, but I am worried about the integrity of it. So, I decided to get online and learn more about fans. One bit of info I ran across concerned horsepower vs. different types of fans. Here’s the info from the site.
“Was reading the May 2000 ‘Car Craft’ and I came across something very interesting. They did a dyno test on a 496 horsepower chubby, {yes, I know — but we can still get some useful info on this…} and they tested different cooling fans to see what kind of drag each different type has.
Alternator, no fan: 496 hp
Black Magic electric fan:494 hp
Thermal clutch fan: 487 hp
Nonthermal clutch fan: 485 hp
Heavy duty thermal clutch fan: 476 hp
High performance flex fan: 476 hp
Stock four blade fan: 473 hp
Low profile flex fan: 466 hp
One piece plastic flex fan: 460 hp
OE replacement six blade rigid fan: 449 hp
They found the alternator alone, a 63 amp unit, only sucked 1 horsepower.”

“very rare 1965 tuxedo park mark IV. there was only 459 of these jeeps ever produced and this model is the original long bed of jeeps. It has a very strong v-6 engine with 99,150 miles on it and it also has an extra gas tank for those long backcountry trips. The four wheel high and low work perfectly and the front lockers turn very smoothly.”

This is a nice looking CJ-5 at a reasonable price.
“6 cyl. 3 speed Jeep runs and drives. Needs a new windshield. Comes with old soft top and miscellaneous parts and pieces. Has 33×9.50×15 tires. 4” rancho lift. New windshield frame and tailgate. This is a sharp looking jeep. I would guess the reserve is pretty high on this one.
"For Sale: 1947 Willys Jeep 4×4. Spent most of its life in California. Absolutely NO rust. The paint is not perfect and has some chips. It has a GM V-6 with roller rockers, aluminum high rise intake with 4 barrel carb, headers, spark arrester header mufflers, electronic ignition, high performance clutch with T-10 4 speed, big face tac, true-loc axles, 3 inch lift, aluminum wheels with 33 inch mud tires, 2 fuel tanks. Grant steering wheel (also have original big Willys steering wheel and side mirrors), Bimini and full convertable top with canvas doors. The motor has less than 5000 miles on it and is either built by Kenne Bell or has Kenne Bell parts (this information was provided by previous owner)…. Call Dave at (419)303-4918."
