Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Real nice CJ2A with a Super Sonic 6cyl engine. This Jeep has new brake system, new radiator, rebuilt starter, heater and wipers work. It also has a recent tune-up and great top. It does need tires and seat cushions. I’d keep it, but I’m too large to get in and out of it comfortably. Will trade for Jeep Cherokee of equal value. “1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A, 134 CI Flat Head, three speed, original 6 volt system with rebuilt generator, split windshield, the Jeep is clean, runs, motor sounds good, drives but does smoke. Jeep has some new parts such as carb, gas tank, fuel line, front brake slave cylinders, master cylinder, 15” wheels, tires. A great start to a fun and easy restoration. No rear seat frame, no top, but some original extra seat parts included. Owner since 1990. Located in Broomfield. “

This is pretty beat up for a $1500 jeep.

The body is beat up a bit. It’s got a CJ-3A windshield. Hard to tell much more.

There’s only one pic, but I don’t see any major rust. This might be a good deal.

This is a great price on a couple of 15″ x 12″ with a 5 on 51/2 bolt pattern.
“This is a pair of (two) chrome modular wheels. They are 12 inches wide with a 15 inch rim. The backspacing is 4 inches, in other words, the wheels are 8 inches deep to the center on the outside and 4 inches deep on the inside. They are in very good shape, no rust or scratches. The do not come with center caps or lug nuts. These have a 5 on 5.5 inch bolt pattern…”
This is an early, rough MB up for auction in Hoquiam.

UPDATE: I have discovered a theme. There’s an Ad from Los Angeles Craigslist and an Ad from Orange County Craigslist to go along with the original San Diego Ad I show posted at the bottom. I’ve put them all together, as a suspect the seller is the same for each, and I think I’ve got a bigger picture now ….
San Diego Ad –> Title = Willys Jeep …………………. Ad Text = “non op”
Long Beach Ad –> Title = o]]]]]]]]]o ’46 willys ……. Ad Text = “bring your truck, lots of parts I need to clear out.”
Orange County Ad –> Title = ’46 willys ………………. Ad Text = “you put it together”
So, the seller has a non op 1946 willys cj-2a that’s in many parts. The seller expects you to put it together. The seller suggests you bring a truck. I suggest you offer the seller very little cash for all the effort you will expend putting humpty dumpty back together again.

This Ad which comes from of San Diego is for a “Willys Jeep”. The text of the ad, in its entirety, is “non op”. There’s no pictures, no year, no model. Maybe it’s a deal? Maybe it’s a waste of time? It made me laugh …

UPDATE: this nice flattie is still available.
The Chevy 181 appears to be a 3.0 Liter Marine engine, which is likely a nice 4cyl for the jeep. This jeep is likely worth a closer look.
