A reader wanted to share a pic of this beautiful all Jewels Flatfender he built over many years and recently sold. He says he already is at work on another jeep. Hopefully, he’ll provide us with some updates as works on his new project.
UPDATE: **SOLD** No Price Listed
“1960’s era Jeep FC-150 (Forward Control) restoration project or parts vehicle. 4cyl OHV, manual trans, hydraulic dump, aux hydraulics, plow mount, single wheel rear axle, many parts interchange with FC 170’s. I can transport vehicle within a 50 mile radius for a small fee. I also have a 1983 Jeep CJ-7 with a small block Chevy 350, 4spd manual trans, hardtop, plow mount, in “need” of restoration or good parts vehicle. Both vehicles ran and are complete, though in “need” of restoration.
This jeep has got one of the more unique hoods I’ve ever seen, a bump with a half cylinder. From the pics, the body doesn’t look too bad. The seller doesn’t indicate whether this is a MB or GPW.
“43 willys flat fender. Has sat for around five years. Ran good when parked, may need a little to get going again. Do have original wheels and tires to go with as well. $1000 firm or may trade for nicer firearm”
While looking up transmissions for the T-98 post, I came across a website that has CJ-5 decals you can purchase. The website offers VIN Stickers, Data plate decals, Tailgate decals, and more. The website carries a wide variety of data stickers. Check it out.
If I wanted to use a sticker, the one to the right would work perfectly, even though it’s designed for a “3 speed Auto D300 Twin”.
I spoke with Don Prine today (12/24/08). Don lives and runs a shop outside of Tacoma, Washington. I quickly learned that Don is quite the character. If I remember correctly, Don said he’s 91 years old and it’s clear to me he has no plans to retire. He’s at the shop regularly and he’ll be there on the 26th, he told me, snow permitting.
Don’s been in the jeep business for 40+ years. He told me stories of purchasing surplus jeeps in lots (one time 80 m38a1s), or as he put it, ‘the bank and I purchased them’. We talked about some of the other jeeps he had purchased and we exchanged some names of people we both knew in the Jeeping world. Then he kindly provided me several contacts of his own in the Boise area he said I should call. It did not take me long to figure out that Don has friends everywhere.
UPDATE: **SOLD**
I include this jeep as it’s a rare example, in my opinion, of a DJ-3A with a tailgate. I’ve heard these existed, but hadn’t had picture proof until I saw this one. The thing that clued me in was the large speedometer. Once I saw that, I went back and read the description.
“For Sale is my 1955-1964 DJ3A/CJ2A/CJ3A combo Jeep that I use on my Farm for general weekly transportation over the last several years. Jeep is stored inside my barn at all times on my farm. If you are looking for a show vehicle with matching numbers this is not the ride for you. However, if you are looking for a good solid original Willys flat fender Jeep driver for general use, read on. All body parts except the tool box are original Willys manufacture. Body tub, fenders, hood, tailgate, and front grill are original DJ3A that have had a paint job using Mil Standard Sherwin Williams OD CARC paint. Body tub is solid as the DJ3A had a full hard top which protected it from the normal weather related rust experienced by most soft top Willys vehicles…..”
I think these are Goodyear Super Terra Grip tires.
“I purchased these tires and wheels on craigslist for my Jeep and they are a great. The problem is they will not fit over my calipers on the front of my 1978 cj5, DAMIT! They fit great on the back yet won’t match anything else I have to run if I only run two on the back. Any way, if you want some bad ass tires for a sand rail or something that two on the back is all you need and they fit it is a great deal. I am asking $500.00 for two and $800.00 for the set of 4. Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas to you. (360) 607-5677 Dan.”
I have no idea what these are worth, but I suspect they aren’t common? M-151 website
“151 powertrain 12000 mi. has run at my shop on pallet. kept in barn for years. you pick up I have forklift/loader AM general 1973 engine is what tag says has starter, generator, radiator, 24volt system. $900 obo, we’ll talk. I don,t email so call 541 974 4501 Eric from 8am to 9pm”
Can you tell what’s been done to this CJ-3B? The builder has extended the front by 3″ – 6″, probably because they’ve dropped this body onto a longer frame (70’s cj-5 maybe?).
“great willys on or off road v-8 runs excellent new carb, clutch, starter, tow bar, salvage title call mike 310-722-8770”
