“1950 Willys Jeep. Competition ice racer. VERY FAST!! Fun street cruiser and show winner too. Must see to appreciate! Chevy 350 V8, TH350 auto trans. Spicer 20 t-case. D30 front with disk brakes. D44 rear, locked. Steel body, fiberglass, one piece, liftoff front end. Nothing but the best!
I don’t know whether these are made anymore (anyone know)? What I do know is that this is the first set I’ve seen for sale in two years of watching craigslist. In addition, I haven’t seen a design quite like that. Normally, the steel is taller and goes up farther on the body.

Someone’s got the wrong year on this CJ-3B. Maybe it is really 1964? It’s either got a fiberglass body or some work has been done on the steps.

This is a beautiful CJ-3A.
“This vehicle was purchased new by a California doctor who kept it on his ranch most of it’s life. I bought it in 2003. I believe the +/-56,000 is probably accurate.The only thing that is off of original is the seat belts and roll bar which I added. It has been repainted but is original color. The seats have been rebuilt and the top was replaced. Recently(early this year) I installed all new brake drums, shoes and cylinders, also new (less than 50 miles) Michelin tires.”
I thought I’d reassemble my mockup roll cage to see how everything is coming together. After making a few small changes, I’ve decided the front hoop will need to go up about an 1″ or so and the back hoop will need to drop about 2″, which should provide a more balanced look to the cage and allow a top to fit more easily.
Last week, Siva asked about my strategy for attaching the roll cage to the front area of the jeep. So, I put my mockup cage back into the jeep to demonstrate this. The two pics below show the PVC tube landing squarely on the 1/4″ thick plate of steel. There will be four bolts that go through the plate connected to the cage to a plate underneath the body connected to the frame (see drawing at the bottom). This sandwiches the body between the roll cage plate and the frame plate, keeping everything together. There will also be one or two triangle plates from the tube to the plate (as demonstrated by the piece show in the pic). This will help provide some additional lateral strength.

It looks like there’s been a few mods on this CJ-3A, so some type of posi or locker seems possible.
“1951 willy 4cj5jp reg-10/31/2009 has a v6 with 1000 miles, new wheel cyl and rebuilt master. needs tires and wheels but runs with the ones on it. lights are new but need to be wired. I think it has a posi rear because 1st and second leaves great dual tire marks. thanks Jeff sell_barter@yahoo.com”
