UPDATE:  Since I was heading to Seattle, I decided to stop by and check out this old racer (Also, it was a great excuse to head east out of La Grande, Oregon; Great drive!).

This is a total old school racing jeep.  The builder took a stock jeep, threw on some desert dogs, upgraded the engine with a buick v6 (leaving the stock exhaust manifolds), threw in a roll cage, vented the carb into the cowl, and that’s about it.  The builder’s son felt that there was a dana 44 in the rear that had posi, and maybe the front too, but he didn’t know for sure. Unfortunately, the weeds kept me from being able to get a jack under the jeep to test whether it had posi or not.

I spent some time this evening cleaning up some older posts that didn’t have working links. While doing this, I’ve discovered that I didn’t have any posts regarding my ‘rough draft’ of the roll cage. I put this together early this year using some PVC. Here are some images from different angles.

Siva has updated his blog with a recent trip to the Jawadhu Hills by a few members of the Jeep Thrills jeep club.  One of the more interesting differences between jeeping in the U.S. and jeeping in India may be summed up by Siva,  “Jawadhu hills has around 270 mountain villages, people in these villages needs to walk for 4kms to 20kms to reach the main road.”  So, the terrain may be remote, yet you may still find yourself passing the occasional pedestrian or stopping for lunch at a local village after traveling over difficult terrain.  Thanks for the update Siva!

I tried to locate the Jawadhu Hills, but instead found the Javadhu Hills near Vellore that lie between two rivers, Ponnaiyar and Palar.  Is that the correct location?  Vandavasi, where you had breakfast, is near there.

The auction on this CJ-2A is almost up (or may be done by the time you read this).  This CJ-2A has a most interesting feature, a CJ-5 body has been grafted onto the back of a CJ-2A body.  I will admit, from the pics it could have ended up looking worse.  The seller neglects to mention this, whether purposefully or not is unknown.

“1946 Willys CJ2A, New brake shoes,hoses, master cylinder and wheel cylinders, new fuel tank,line and carburetor, new tires,  This is a clean Willys. the only thing that does not work as far as I can tell is the emergency brake. This comes with bill of sale only.”
