The St. Petersburg Times published this article in 1942 about the war bond drive. Purchases of bonds got the chance to ride in a jeep.
UPDATE: Price dropped to $19,000
The upper portion of the rear wheel area has a rail rather than metal. As Bill notes it may have had a luggage conveyor installed on it.
(08/23/2014) “CJ3B Willys Jeep. To much to list must see. Beautiful. Total restored customized, disk brakes, power steering, tilt wheel and much more. Over $20,000 invested. “
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was For Trade.
Looks solid
“Looking to trade my 47 Willys CJ 2…..Will consider HD or trike…maybe a rat rod….or cash but would rather trade. Comes with a 40’s era trailer and spare parts and tires. I am in no hurry to get rid of this so please be serious”
Jim spotted this stock CJ-5.
“You are bidding on a 38k original mile gem. This jeep was originally purchased in California and made it’s way to Oklahoma in 1986. The jeep has been garage kept all of it’s life. This jeep was purchased from the original owning family in 2002, the odometer at that time was 13,240.
There is zero rust in the body of this Jeep and very minor surface rust. The paint is factory original, color code 433, Spring Green. The Jeep has never been off-roaded and has only been daily driven.
The body and frame are factory straight, and it retains it’s original engine and 3-speed drivetrain.
When the Kayline top was installed, it was ordered built without snaps so it could be matched up to the original snap holes.
The Jeep starts, runs, shifts and stops excellent. One minor modification is the addition of an HEI ignition.
The Jeep has the new Kayline top as well as new seat upholstery and new tires. They were replaced due to dry rot and wear.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
Runs and drives, but no title.
“My dad and I bought this jeep about 10 years ago to fix up for a deer lease hunting rig. We pulled it out of a field in east texas and got it running pretty good. Has a 2″ lift kit and some new tall skinny 33/10.50/15 super swampers tires on black steel wheels. Jeep has been painted many times through out its lift and is currently olive drab green. Has roll bar tow bar couple extra seats. It has a very rat rod feel to it as sometime back in the 50-60s a previous owner did a motor swap to the f4 hurricane from the original tornado flat 4. Has an old school offenhouser hood scoop to clear the air filter.
Steering is loose and it has been sitting for a few years. Last time we messed with it it didn’t want to start. Needs cap and rotor. Dad bought a wrangler for the deer lease and I need to get a daily driver worthy truck or suv. Would prefer v8 but open to any trade offers for a running driving vehicle worth at least 3 grand. This jeep has a lot of potential and would be a sweet hunting rig or weekend put around or parades. Send pics and description of trade offers. No title will be sold with bill of sale only. Have not been able to locate Vin or serial number on it may have never had one.”
UPDATE: Still Available.
