Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “The Jeep has been worked on and runs and drives well. Four wheel drive, 4 cylinder Jeep. It does need a little work, the fuel gauge needs to be replaced. A little rust on the body. The Jeep really only needs a little TLC.”

“Good condition. Body has been sandblasted and painted. Canvas top custom-fit to trailer. Solid floorboards.

This CJ-5 has been stretched in the middle.
“At some point someone took the 1957 Jeep Willys body from the frame. They cut and extended the body by 13.5 inches right in the middle of the door frame. They sprayed the under body with a rust inhibitor and dropped the body on a late 80’s CJ-7 frame. The AMC straight 6, transmission, axles and etc are all original to the CJ-7 (as far as I know). Registered as a 57 Willys.
I take it out around town twice a month or so. Good BF Good All Terrains on it.
Wanted to tinker with it but don’t have much time or expertise. Now have #2 baby on the way.
A buddy said to start around $4000. Might also be interested in a trade or barter for a different 4×4 I could use as hunting rig, fence work, side by side, 4 wheeler, etc. Let me know!”

“These parts are getting hard to find and were on what was left of are 1940’s Willys jeep. They are not needed for what we have planed so we’ve decided to pass them on. Complete engine and trans and complete front and rear axels, drive shaft, leaf springs and original wheels. This jeep has been sitting for a while so the engine and trans are locked up but we have the cylinders soaking in oil to try and turn it over. They both need rebuilt. (10/17/2013) “1953 willys Jeep – Back on the market deal fell through
Off road Jeep with V-6 , winch, oversize tires, many spare parts and in good running condition. Mud , dirt , rocks sand this JEEP can handle it!
It has a military frame. Stock transmission, transfer case, front and rear diff. But the gear ratio has been changed to 4:27 and posi-traction front and rear {Powerlocks). Also installed 19 spline axles front and rear . Leaf springs are 3 inch lift comp springs very stiff. Engine is a 76 Buick v6. There is an adaptor between front of transmission and bellhousing”

“Jeep just went under a body off restoration
Rebuilt transmission
Rebuilt transfer case
Original flat head four cylinder engine
All electrical changed to 12 volt system with alternator
Still has mechanical fuel/vacuum pump but is not used , it is using an electrical fuel pump with in line fuel filter
All other mechanical has been gone through and serviced , all is in great working order
New glass and rubber
New hood tail gate and other body panels, all rust has been cut out and new panels welded in, and body work done right
Brand new seats”

(09/18/2013) This stock looking GPW has some mods, including being lengthened. It appears sound.

4.3 EFI V-6 w/5 spd trans.
30/44 3.73:1 axles, posi rear, front pig to right side.
Frame/body stretched 6 inches.
Many new parts, new Cooper 31×10.50s.
Iroc Z steering box, DJ column
Manual 11-inch drum brakes
No parking brake cable, no windshield wipers.
Many storage boxes. Sluggish to start, runs great. Leaky fretted hole in Modine radiator.”

“Up for sale is a 1946 Jeep Willy’s CJ2-A. Restored with original engine, new seats, powder coated parts, Co-Op tires with powder coated rims, converted to 12 Volt system, and runs great. Engine starts right off and has no problems running!
