This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This 1951 Willys 4-73 is a 4×4 pickup that was acquired by the late owner approximately 25 years ago and has reportedly been stored for much of the last 15 years. The truck is finished in gray primer over a brown interior and is powered by a 134ci L-head inline-four mated to a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a front tow bar, wood pickup bed extensions, a side-mounted spare, and manually-locking front hubs. This Willys is now offered by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s estate with a matching trailer, a Willys parts catalogue, a clean Oregon title for the truck, and a bill of sale for the trailer.”

Seems like a pretty good price. Maybe the rust problem is larger than suggested in the text?
“1955 Willys truck runs and drives good. Does need clutch. Was driven till June this year. Has small ford 6cyl. Engine runs excellent and the 4 wheel drive works. Some body and frame rust $2850 OBO.”

Bill shared this project truck. He’s hoping someone gets it so that he’s no longer tempted by it.
“1953 Willys Overland, with plow.
Been in my family since 1963 (have bill of sale from then) and was in running condition 25 years ago when i parked it in my garage. My grandfather used it to plow his very long driveway. I started a restoration in the 1980’s but never finished.
Its been sitting outside now for about 6 years and I am too old at this point to restore it.
Asking $3000 or best offer”

Bill spotted this sold truck on Hemmings. It seems a hefty price, especially when you look at the undercarriage (cobwebs, some surface rust). The seller states they spent $63,000 on ‘restoring’ this truck.

“This 1948 Willys-Overland Jeep Model 4T pickup was purchased by the seller’s father in Kelowna, British Columbia, in 1948, and it was refurbished between 1999 and 2002 after the seller took possession of the truck. It was refinished in gray, and additional refurbishment work included rebuilding the 134ci inline-four, refreshing the interior with dark red vinyl upholstery, replacing the windshield and seals, and rebuilding the carburetor, radiator, front hubs, generator, and starter. Equipment includes a three-speed manual transmission paired with a Spicer transfer case, a chrome front bumper, red-finished 16″ steel wheels, and a cabin heater. This Willys Jeep truck is now offered with refurbishment records, manufacturer’s literature, and a British Columbia registration.”

UPDATE: Chuck called on this ad. The owner says his grandson listed it, but the owner is not interested in selling it. Was listed at $4500.
This “all original” truck sports a V-8. It also has a gov plate. A forest-service shaped sticker suggests this was likely a forest-service vehicle.

“Purchased The Willys in 2018 from a farm. The Body was mostly Rust free. Then we purchased a 1986 Monte Carlo with a Ponitac 400 Engine and 200R4 Automatic Transmission. We proceeded to remove the Monte Carlo Body off and Move the Willys Body to the Monte Carlo Frame. The Pick Up bed has been Custom Made. Looks like a Wrecker but the Wrecker is only for looks. There are new tires and Wheels not shown in pictures. It looks and runs good. Currently registered and inspected in NH. It is currently located in the shop Orange Mass putting the finishing touches on it.”
