Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Looks like this is street legal, too. Gotta love the 1944 frame .. I wonder what the story is behind that.

This might be a pretty good price considering it includes an overdrive and a nice looking roll cage.

It appears there are four levers (tranny, two tc, and either an OD or a PTO), but I can’t tell which.
“I have a 53, ideal for a parts vehicle. Four intact fenders, Hood, and straight body. Transmission lost 2nd gear, so it has been sitting for long enough to where the motor needs a rebuild too. I know it has enough parts on it to warrant the price, so i am not very flexible.

“THIS 1973 cj 5 JEEP WAS RECENTLY PAINTED AND FITTED WITH A NEW FUEL TANK BETWEEN THE FRAME RAILS. IT HAS A CUSTOM ROLL CAGE, BACK SEAT AND SPARE TIRE CARRIER. IT HAS NEW SEATS WITH 6 POINT HARNESSES FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER. IT IS A NEW AUTOMATIC TURBO 400 TRANSMISSION AND TWIN STICK NP 205 TRANFPER CASE. IT HAS NEW BILSTINE RESOVOIR SHOCKS. HAS FLAT FENDERS, NICE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS AND ROCK SLIDERS. THE DRIVE SHAFTS ARE SOMEWHAT NEW. IT HAS DANA 44’S FRONT AND BACK WITH DETROIT LOCKERS AND 589 GEARS, THE JEEP HAS BEEN STRETCHED AND THE TUB MOVED BACK FOR A TALLER GUY LIKE MYSELF. Given this CJ-5 has an overdrive and the jeep has a new top, I think this is a pretty good price.

I included this CJ-5 because the seller has done something interesting to the front grille. I haven’t decided whether I’m a fan of it or not, but it’s an interesting idea. The jeep itself looks great.

And one more great find from Brian. This is a brand new, never mounted CJ-5 fiberglass body along with enough parts to get a project started. Of course, new, the body and front clip would cost a lot more, approx $3600 from one source before taxes and shipping.

This looks like a good price on a nice, upgraded CJ-5.
