Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1948 willys jeepster, convertible , 4 cylinder, 3 speed manual with over drive, good body floors and frame, garage kept, last owner purchased in 1966, not run in a couple years, has new front brakes, brakes need gone over before driving, engine turns over, (not running), has convertible top, frame work good, top canvas has hole, includes side curtains, engine was replaced at some point to a 1950/1951 ohv, engine rebuild done about 1,000 miles ago this would be a great ride with out alot of work. thank you for looking!! good pennsylvania title! titled as an antique !!”

“1948 Willys Jeepster VJ2 2Door Pheaton Convertible Very solid. Was restored in the 90’s and was mostly garage kept. Does not run currently. Turns over great. New battery. I haven’t pulled the plugs yet to check them. Either those or the carb might need work/replaced. Did run last year. Clutch return spring probably needs replaced. New fuel pump and brakes Planned on restoring it but focusing on another project. No major dents. Just small scratches and paint flaking. Very solid for 75 years old.”

“Dressed in white with red trim, this Jeepster cuts a clean, classic look from its six-bar grille to its narrow taillights. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the cargo area is clean with a spray-on liner and the chrome bumpers fit tightly to the body. There is new weatherstripping, a full-size spare tire and wheel in the forward end of the cargo bay, just aft of the cab.

Mike spotted this estate-sale Jeepster Convertible. This looks like a great one for the price. If I weren’t buying a different jeep at the end of Feb (yep, we head out on Feb 27th), I’d consider this one as I’ve though a Jeepster Convertible would be a neat vehicle for around these parts.

“1967 Jeep Commando jeepster-estate vehicle, same owner last 25 years. 63k miles 3 speed manual transmission with a 225 ci engine which had a total rebuild in 2011 by a reputable jeep rebuilder-have receipts. This vehicle completed a cross country trip last year with no issues. Very clean Jeep with some new upgrades. TONS OF EXTRA PARTS-A PICKUP TRUCK BED OF EXTRAS-TOO MUCH TO LIST. Car is located in West Orange NJ and will only be shown by appointment. Only serious buyers will be scheduled for inspection and test drives.”

“A real Hurst Jeepster. It is complete with title. I am the second owner. I have it apart right now to restore. Life has got in the way and I have bills that need my attention, Own one of only 300 know to still be around. Buick V-6 and turbo 400 trans. Hurst dual gate shifter, Tach in hood scope. All parts are in the Jeep.”
