Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Berg’s Truck and Parts Co. placed this ad in the October 13, 1946, issue of the Chicago Tribune. I figure that either engines were selling good and Berg was promoting the sale of more or they weren’t selling good and he had backlog of them that needed to go.

The has a fiberglass body that looks similar to a Bobcat fiberglass body, with the wide rim around the cargo area, but this has flat floors and the floor pan connects to the sides of the body differently than a Bobcat..

“1947 Jeep Willys mid-remodel for sale. The motor has been replaced with a Ford 302, it comes with a new wiring harness needing installed. Also new on this is valve covers, water pump, starter, headers, oil pump, clutch, tires, rims, seats, gauges, glass has been replaced, seals, a new vinyl bikini top, and so much more! Just needs someone with the time to finish it and get it running. $6,000 OBO.”

“Here’s your winter project, I’ve owned this 10 years, and never messed with it. As you can see, it’s pretty rough, I’m not sure if the engine is locked up but, the last time we moved it, the transmission was stuck in gear, so we disconnected the u-joint, and the engine turned when we pushed it. The driver’s side window is the only one broken, I think the rest are good. Never had a bed for this thing.”
