This July 14, 1955, article from the Auburn Journal (Auburn, California) highlights the upcoming two day trip from Auburn, to Wentworth Springs and on to Lake Tahoe. It also includes a lists of some of the folks participating in the event. You’ll note there is no mention of it being a Jeep or Jeepers Jamboree.
Joel shared this late 1940s ad from the Maine Willys Sales Company of Augusta, Maine. Note the Willys Sign in the background with the early “J” logo. It appears that Maine’s State Foresty Department was an early enthusiast of the new jeep trucks. I was unable to locate the this ad using newspapers.com, so cannot date it at this time.
Here’s a rare lift-equipped CJ-5 with a rear PTO, Meyer hardtop and PTO winch.

(08/12/2016) Dan spotted this nice wagon out of Oregon.
“1959 Willys Jeep Wagon, 4WD, Everyday Driver, Original Drive Train, Warn Overdrive, Warn Automatic Hubs. I bought the Vehicle in 2000 in Vancouver, WA from it’s second owner. I restored/re-built it as an every-day driver in 2004. I’ve kept it in a garage since I restored it. The body, interior, engine, and drive train were done in local shops in the Portland Metro.
It comes with a few spare parts. I have a set of snow tires mounted on the same style rims that would be extra if you’re interested. The right front brake needs some TLC before you start driving it every day.
I’ve driven this fun wagon for 20 years, but now I’m looking for something new and different.”
