Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (07/15/2015) It’s supposed to be an ex-civil defense wagon.
“Special build for Civil Defense. One of only “10” equipped in this manner. The barn doors, the taillights etc. are different from the production run. Factory PTO winch/bumper. No rust! Solid and functional in every way. Runs and drives good. Super Hurricane flat head 6 cylinder. New gas tank, carburetor, complete brake system. Tires and wheels are new, w/new hubcaps. Ideal for business Mascot vehicle.”

“1947 Willy Jeep project car, has engine, trans, body is rusted, all parts on hand, PTO on rear, need to sell fast, make offer”
Lee’s shared some updated photos on his M-38. His goal has been to restore it back to stock. Though he’s got a great deal of stock jeep to use, as he disassembled it he discovered a few more problems than he’d planned. Despite some unexpected issues, he’s been working all summer since Ann and I visited he and his family last April in San Saba, Texas. He doesn’t have a great deal of time, between his job, farm, kids and wife, but he’s been making the most of it. He tells me he is almost done.

“I have a 1946 Willy’s jeep with a small block 283 corvette motor. It has a np420 4speed trans and a twin stick transfer case it has a newer jeep rear axle, new tail lights, custom battery mount, new airfilter, the motor has a fresh rebuild and a quadrajet carb, new seats, new four point harnesses , comes with a tow bar, inside is rihno lined, no rust at all need minor body work. Has a new 11gal gas tank and comes with a back seat.”
