Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. In his Conner’s Corner column for the Lewiston Evening News on October 16, 1945, Sam Conner didn’t have a “Kind Word For Jeep”, at least in regards to the pounding ride it offered. It was a fair complaint.
Some classic mods on this 2A, including a Ford engine update, a chev column install, bucket seats and trailer tail lights. Note the driver side engine mount built to clear the steering column.

Bill shared this 1942 GPW that’s themed as a British SAS LRDG jeep. Has some passenger floor rust.

“Runs great. Brakes have been adjusted and the jeep slows and stops as designed.
Shifts smoothly and doesn’t slip out of gear.
Nov 1942 GPW runs well
the wires to lights need to be connected
the grill is not cut but has been painted black
the tires and tubes are new
the floor hat channel rusted out under the passenger seat. It’s covered by a piece of sheet metal. See pics. That’s the only rusted area on the jeep. The floor and tool compartments are solid
The tub, fenders and hood are original.

Po had a Buick v6 engine in it and cut a little of the firewall to accommodate it.
Body and floor metal in good condition except for rusted in normal areas that all.old jeeps were prone to do.”
