Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Tom spotted this nice looking DJ-3A Convertible. It doesn’t look like it has the convertible top and it’s missing the hubcaps, but otherwise this seems one of the better DJ convertibles that I’ve seen. It looks like it’s been repainted at some point.

“Selling my fully restored 1961 Willy’s Jeep in Fire Engine Red (28k miles). This truck is awesome, we used it to help with advertising our business by driving it around the local towns, but no longer need to do so. The Willys Jeep Truck is a truck made by Willys-Overland Motors from 1947 to 1965. The styling and engineering of the Jeep Truck was based on Willys’ existing vehicles, the Willys Jeep Station Wagon and the Jeep CJ-2. Cash or certified check only.”
Based on the “W”, I’d say this is a 1950-1953 door. Looks in good condition.

Remember that time I wrote that I hoped regular updates would resume on Monday? Well, life threw us a curve. I visited my mother for Mother’s Day and learned she is struggling much more than I realized. So, we will probably be moving her sooner rather than later.
I brought back a few items from her place, like some desert dog tires for the race Jeep and some tools, but had hoped to bring back the DJ-3A aka Patterson (with Steve Carter’s offer to trailer it to Prosser). However, my mother’s garage door was broken and Patterson wouldn’t start (fuel pump not working), so I told Steve we’d do it some other time. I never got the fuel pump working, but I did get the garage door working again. I will swap in my electric fuel pump for the time being.
Interesting video of the RAF mountain rescue team and their use of a jeep, ambulance and climbing skills to investigate crash sites in the hopes of saving pilots and crew.

The search party consists of ambulance, jeep and team of mountaineers. An aeroplane flies over head to locate crash site. Good shot of team walking along ridge silhouetted against sky. David refurbed this Tux Park CJ-5 with an early dually package.
“Up for sale is my 1964 Kaiser Willys CJ5 tuxedo park. It’s my 4th ground up restoration. I’ll start with what I didn’t do which was changed the gears in the axles as they looked great. And also I did not paint it as you could see. It’s original color was red. I did replace every race and bearing as well as front and rear hubs. All new 10” brake system (tuxedo park) front to back including cylinders and lines. All new fuel system front to back.
Completely rebuilt original Hurricane 4cyl engine. Show quality original rebuilt carburetor. Professionally rebuilt transmission and transfer case. All new u-joints. New alternator (tuxedo park had them factory) . The body is a reproduction all metal and not a bit of rust. Radiator and hoses all brand new. Right now it has a dealer sold dually farm kit on the back which is easily removed. There are seven brand new wheels and tires. Interior is all new and includes a new “Vintage Air”heater and defrost system.
Glass is new and it comes to the brand new best top super top. Frame is an excellent shape as I replace the original. Also there’s a brand new wiring kit from Walks 4wd along with an electronic distributor. I’m sure I missed a lot of items that I added to this so any questions feel free to contact me.
Oh, Also for this price will be extra parts such as the Tuxedo Park three on the tree transmission and shifter as well as the original transfer case plus many other parts. Just in case you’d like to restore it back to a tuxedo park. Approximately 150 miles on rebuilt engine.”

“1942 Willy’s MB modified for off-roading. Lots of aftermarket and swapped parts added on, a ton of fun even just to drive on the street. The motor is a Ford 289 (might be a High Output but not sure) from a 60s Mustang with a mild cam, mated to a 4 speed T18 trans. Dana 44 in the rear, Dana 20 up front with a Dana 18 transfer case. It is running on open headers at the moment, but I have the mufflers if you want them. The car sat for a handful of years, but I have completed a lot of maintenance work and she runs and drives very strong:

“I’m selling my 1960 CJ3B Willy’s. The vehicle is in excellent shape for the year and the odometer reads: 46,000 mi. Had a hell of a good time in Pismo 5 years ago, then it was parked and hasn’t been started since. Body is straight and true, except the hood. The hood has a crack on the surface and will need to be refinished. Otherwise, it’s a great vehicle and with a little TLC, you could have a great and collectible Willy’s.”
