John found this 1953 version of the Yakima Jeep Rodeo, pronounced by the British narrator as “Row-day-Oh”.
This April 03, 1946, photo from the Spokesman Review shows Dave Zimmerman and his band/radio show ensemble stuffed into a jeep. With a Detroit transit strike raging, a borrowed jeep was the only way to get everyone to their radio show gig.
According to this page, Dave Zimmerman was a long time announcer at WWJ in Detroit. He hosted a popular radio program called Coffee Club and was on the air for Detroit’s first television broadcast from the 47th floor of the Penobscot Building.
In May of 1964 newspapers across the country shared the news of the Army testing out an idea where v-shaped flexible wings were attached to vehicles such as jeeps, allowing them to be pulled behind aircraft and flying to their destinations.
I tried to find photos of the jeeps with V-wings, but I had no luck. There is this example of the Army testing the v-wing concept they called a “Fleep”, which may use a similar flexible v-wing.

“1948 Willys CJ2a rear 540 PTO. Starts and runs well brakes work well New seats it’s in retty decent condition giving its age. Frame is solid and all the lights work”
Seller listed a big price, but noted that it is just a placeholder. Given the column shift and lack of tool indents, I’d say this is likely a 3X,XXX serial number.

(06/01/2020) This is a custom build with a fiberglass body. I assume it is registered as a 1953 jeep, hence the year.

“I have three jeeps for sale. Shoot me an offer on one or all will not part out.
1) 1948 cj2a willys jeep for $2000: it is the black one with the top and no doors, (i do have the doors to go with it). it has a 2.3l ford 4 cylinder in it and the original 3 speed and original transfer. does not run, needs to be wired. new gauges, body in fair shape. Firewall is cut up from previous owner, body is rhino lined. winch not included $2,000 obo.
2) 1965 CJ-5 Tux Park IV $2000: does run needs a carb tune, original v6, 3 speed, and transfer. $2000 obo
3) 1955 CJ-5 $500: Not running pretty much a rolling chassis. the engine pictured is the original 4 cyl for that jeep, unknown condition. there are a pile of parts in the back for it, it also comes with a soft half cab with no doors or frame. no hood or grill 500 obo

“1946 Jeep Willys CJ2A Original Body with matching ACM numbers on tailgate and gusset. Engine is from a 1953 Jeep Willys. It runs great and starts up with one turn of the key. All 4 brake cylinders replaced last month and master cylinder. Very little rust. Will trade for select motorcycles. BMW rnine t, Ducati Scrambler, BMW adventure, Triumph Scrambler”
Has a few updates, but looks mostly stock. There may be some rust on the driver’s side near the step.
