Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This unusual ad appeared in the December 18, 1945, issue of the Poughkeepsie Journal. I guess marketers figured adding the “jeep” name to most anything was a good bet for increasing sales?

“Runs good, new tires 2 years ago, gas gauge doesn’t work, speedometer doesn’t work needs new cable, tear in passenger seat, just replaced universal joints, professional rebuilt starter and alternator. New fan belt. Driven weekly, starts good. Clear Maryland title.”

“Selling my “mismatch” jeep. It’s a fiberglass cj3b tub sitting on a cj3a frame. The frame is real nice condition and the tub is rust free! Both fenders are good condition. Hood/grill not perfect but definitely usable. No engine/trans. Asking $1200 or best offer.
Maybe the rims are worth the price?

This looks in reasonable shape. It wasn’t that long ago DJ-5s in this condition were selling for $1500.
“Runs and drives amazing …. new parts front tires, brakes, carb , full tune up, timing chain, belts, exhaust down pipe, speedo cluster , battery, heater core, blower motor blue tooth stereo. I drive it a fiew days a week . Fun to drive and it gets lots of comments.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000. This was a former Texas Border Patrol Traveller.

Original 230 inline 6 has been replaced with a later chevrolet 250 inline 6. Original, unrestored traveller needing complete restoration but a very solid platform to start with.”
