The Museum of Alaska Transportation & Industry is located in Wasilla, Alaska. It’s a far drive for most people to see the museum, but it does have a rare CJ-3B Fire Jeep. I think that’s as good of a reason to visit Alaska as any other!
Ron alerted me to the museum and shared these photos he took. Note the CJ-7 Mail Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler, which I think looks pretty good. Thanks Ron!

“I think it is a 1956. For parts only. No title. Some rust in floors but easy fix.pictures tell the story. Comes with Omix rear quarter panel and front quarter panel for passenger side. Easy fix.Drive train complete. Does not run. Trans appears to shift in and out of gears. Engine appears locked up but seems to be all there. Somewhere along the line someone has loosened various components on the engine but they appear to be all there. That is what I know. I bought it to fix up but found a runner so I am on to the next one. Happy to answer any more ??? Shipping to be paid by buyer no matter what the calculater says Buyer Resonsible for Shipping or local pic up.”
It’s a project.
“Here is a heavily modified old willys. Just about everything on it has been upgraded. Obviouslt the whole rear has been replaced with a tubular cage. I made it to offer great rollover strength but still mimic the classic body lines of the original willys, hence the curved door openings and the opening to fit the original willys tailgate.. The suspension uses Wider YJ leaf springs all around. reverse shackles up front and a 3/4 elliptical system in the rear, which allows for major flex. The old screw type steering was replaced with a heavy duty Saginaw box and beefed up custom linkage all over. All 4 wheels have been converted to disc brakes with stainless lines. the drivetrain however I kept stock, first, because of the nostalgia factor of keeping it willys, Second, because it has proven itself. Back when this was a normal jeep I could plow tons of snow and not slow it down at all or drive down the freeway at a fair speed. I have not started he engine in a few years but I’m sure it will crank over.
As I said, this is a project so it needs finished. Off the top of my head, it needs driveshafts put in, sheetmetal installed as the floor and sides (optional) brake lines run, pedals installed, amongst a few other things.
I am losing out big time asking what I am for it, but we all know you never get what you put into them. I just need to clear out some projects. You can call or text me at 4 four O-31 nine- O 47 O”
Well, it looks pretty good from the front . . .
“Not sure of the year, was running and driving 5 years ago. Sitting outside for the past 5 years. Clutch seems to be froze up. Rolls ok. Selling As Is and As Pictured. If it’s still listed, it’s still available. I delete soon as an item sells. Any questions, drop an e-mail. Thanks”

The Willys is a real head turner that looks and runs great.
To view photos, paste this link in your web browser –
I’ve listed below what the jeep consists of.
Dana 25 front axle / Dana 44 rear axle (5.38 gears)
T90 3 speed transmission / D18 transfer case
Chevy fuel injected 4.3L T.B.I (approximately 65K on motor) with custom aluminum radiator — very clean swap using Advanced Adapters adjustable motor mounts
Advanced Adapters headers
Ford reverse rotation P.S. gear box attached by Herm the Overdrive Guy’s custom mount at front of frame near cross member for superior strength (presently not in PS mode due to no PS pump on motor — using as manual steering, which actually works quite well)
9″ drum brakes w/new pads, wheel cylinders, and brake lines front & rear
New master cylinder and relocation bracket
New shocks front & rear
Optima yellow top battery
Digital gauges (oil pressure, volts, fuel, temp)
34 x 10.50 x 15 Super Swamper LTB’s on black steel wheels (only 1K miles on tires)
Corbeau front bucket seats with 3 point harness / Corbeau rear seat & 2 seat belts
Full roll cage
Full soft top and doors — like new condition
Bedlined inside and out (underneath) with Al’s Liner (similar to Line-X)
Jeep is located in Caro, Michigan 48723
Thanks for looking.”

“!953 Willys Jeep CJ3B high hood. It h as a mail jeep frame with the rear springs outside the frame rail. 406 Chevy small block with over 500 HP. Fresh Turbo 400 trans brake and stall converter, with a slap shifter.. Dana 20 xfer case attached to a Tom Woods drive shaft. Built Ford 9″ rear end. Front is a Dana 25 and it works. I never need it except to turn. Body is in good shape and looks sharp. Tires are in excellent condition. Aftermarket steering column also. Goes down the road very well for the year. It does need some minor work to finish.Crack in the front windshield. No top. What you see is what you get. The engine is built very well. Lunati cam and roller rockers. Aftermarket heads. This jeep is fast and fun. Ran a 4.82 in the sand. I will add more pictures as weather allows. Or send privately. Thanks.ask any questions. Looking for a new project. Time to move on. I will not ship, I will assist in helping a shipper with the shipping. I give no warranty what so ever. This is a built fast fun jeep. Hard to find high hood in good shape.”
