1947 CJ-2A Portland, OR $9000

Looks in good shape.

“This Jeep was completely rebuilt 10 years ago with a frame off restoration. Rebuilt original 4 cyl motor and transmission, new tub, new wiring, new Firestone military NDT tires, many new or reconditioned parts. My goal was to return it to as near new condition as possible, and it’s been continuously garaged and driven just 1100 miles since the restoration. This is as close as you will get to owning a new, 1947 Willys CJ 2A and is nothing but fun to drive. I’d like to see it go to a good home.”

1948 CJ-2A Lefty? Kerhonkson, NY $4250

Not quite “unmolested”, but pretty close. It appears to be a “Lefty”. The top is interesting. Whether custom or dealer offered I couldn’t say.

“A True Survivor and Garage Find. Everything is original and unmolested. From the estate of my father, Gordon Churchwell, he purchased it new and registered until the mid 80’s. Afterwards it was used around the farm for recreational use. In addition, there are several photos showing a rare back seat, fog lamps, a mesh grill, a tow bar, original heater, the original canvas doors, spare tire, and other misc parts. The top he made from marine plywood and fiberglass coated as he spent his years in retirement restoring antique wooden boats. It can be easily removed. It isn’t currently running and will need restorative work. All items pictured is included in the sale. Pick up only and transport is responsibility of buyer..”

1946 CJ-2A Ventura, CA $8000

UPDATE: Peter noted that it looks like the driver side front spring is bent near the front shackle.

Ted shared this jeep. It has a few updates, including a spray liner on the interior and underside.

“Offered here is a 1946 Civilian Willys Jeep. This driver comes out of an estate and collection of fine automobiles. The in-house mechanic states that the engine and transmission have been rebuilt and the brakes are in good working order. Newer paint was applied and the vehicle shows well. The floors and undercarriage plus the inside of the fenders have been undercoated. A roll bar has been installed. The windshield glass on the driver’s side has a crack and will need replacement. Some paint bubbling was noticed also on the windshield frame. This is a no-nonsense little cruiser. Perfect for running around town, as a grocery-getter, a vehicle for advertising, parades or simply to show and enjoy. The vehicle is currently on display at the Murphy Automobile Museum in Oxnard, California.”

1946 CJ-2A VEC Gilbert, AZ $4300

This has an early windshield. It also has a floor shift, though the pics don’t show if it was once a column shift or not.

“This is a very very early civilian jeep, perhaps the very first few that rolled off after the war as it still has the MB body. Originally came with the rare column shift but later converted to stick on floor. All original drive train. Starts right up but needs restoration. Body is very solid with some bondo. Original Arizona vehicle last licensed in 1970. A great project that can be worth getting into. Serious enthusiasts only please.”

1948 CJ-2A Manasquan, NJ $15,000

Looks in good shape.

“Up for sale is my restored 1948 Willys Jeep. The model is CJ2A. It is a civilian model, not military, hence the “CJ” or civilian Jeep. I purchased this Willys at the end of the summer to play around with. The previous owner purchased it fully restored, but was not a car guy. He owned it for about a year and a half and did not use it really at all. From what I can tell it has a new steel body (no fiberglass here!) and was fully restored top to bottom including all the drive train.

It is powered by the mighty 134ci “Go Devil” engine and has a 3 speed transmission with the very desirable overdrive option. Everything works as it should and the restoration was done to original specs with the exception of the aftermarket Best Top soft top which is also in excellent condition. A few new items include new rear wheel cylinders and rear brake shoes. From it sitting (again the previous owner didn’t use it) one of the rear wheel cylinders leaked so I replaced both along with the shoes as once brake fluid gets on them they need to be replaced as well. It was also hard starting so I replaced the carburetor with a rebuilt carb and now she fires right up with no issue. Also just had the oil changed, chassis lubed, and a new set of spark plugs. It is truly turn key.”

1948 CJ-2A Klamath Falls, OR eBay

Ted shared this eBay auction. It’s a beautiful jeep. It is missing the bow holders on the driver’s side and the spare tire mounted on the passenger side, but those are minor quibbles.

“This Willys is a Cj2a that has been completely restored from ground up.With the motor being all standard it has not been run much. I Ordered a new steel body mostly for the rust issues under the tool box and hat channel.By the time I replaced the channel and floor I was getting up in labor and cost.

I completely disassembled it and started with the frame and worked my way up. The list that follows of new parts installed to make it drive on the highway and be safe to operate. I upgraded the brakes, from 9″ to 11″” self adjusting; And new dual master cylinder. Converted it to a single wire Alternator to get the 12v needed for modern lights and all new cloth wiring.Rebuilt the steering box with new sector shaft, and the jeep does not wander going down the road. All steering is tight.I replaced most all the bolts. The list of parts is long and I did not cut corners on the restore.

UPDATE: Price now $12,500.

(10/21/2016) Looks in good shape.

“eatiful 1948 Jeep CJ2A Willys

We believe we are the 4th owner only in it’s life. The mileage is approximately 77,800 original miles with the original engine. Does it have character yes but runs and drives great. Top end is about 50 mph and will run all day.

It has been converted to 12v and this winter we did the following
– Brake Pads, Rotors, Calipers, Hoses, & Steel Lines
– Spark Plugs & Wires
– Ingnition & Coil
– Distributor Cap & Rotor
– Lots of Gaskets and Seals
– Transfer Case Oil Pan
– Choke and Throttle
– Steering Stabilizer
– New Guages (except for odometer)

We have the original rims for the smaller tires if you want them. Comes with a bikini top and a soft top. The best news is those areas where it normally has rust has NONE. Nothing in the wheel wells and not even any in the tool box. The original paint has been painted over as it was originally the deep harvest red. The rest has all the character that makes this Willys so popular.
