(10/19/2023) I have called the seller of this CJ-2A a friend for over a decade. His 1948 CJ-2A Lefty includes numerous extras. Also included is a unique collection of literature, some of which I’ve never seen elsewhere. The seller was instrumental in provided a great deal of unique, early civilian documents.
This collection is in Europe, so for a European collector it is likely a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get all this at cost far below what it would take to ship (if you could find the equipment) from the US.

“The Jeep CJ models are a series of open bodied off-road vehicles built and sold by several successive incarnations from 1945 to 1986. In fact, the 1945 model was the world’s first mass produced 4 wheel drive vehicle for civilian use. As a result the CJ stands for Civilian Jeep.
In 1946 it was equipped with the L34 134ci Flathead 4 cylinder which was nicknamed the “Go Devil” that is mated to a column shifted Borg Warner T90 3 speed manual transmission. This sweet Jeep is also equipped with 3 very rare options making it extremely desirable which are the front tow bar, the rear draw bar (hitch) and the rear bumper mounted Power Take-Off (PTO) which was designed to drive equipment mounted at the rear of the vehicle through a shaft drive assembly. It is also used to drive trailered equipment, operate belt driven machines and shaft driven winches.

I am the 3rd owner and have documentation from the original family including pictures and the history. It was purchased by a family friend who had it restored. The Jeep includes many accessories including an extended bed and an original style half cab top. “1948 CJ-2A with CJ-3A windshield with clear title. L134 Flathead, 3 speed T-90 tranny and Dana 18 Transfer case, and Carter 636SA carb. Always garaged and driven in good weather. Starts and drives perfectly, with smooth shifting gears and working 4 wheel drive. Bestop top with doors. Converted to 12V. High torque mini starter with key start and electronic ignition. Good Cooper Discoverer tires, turn signals, seat belts, solid frame, original body, and floor panels with no rust or bondo. Sidesteps, tow bar and floor mats. Has shift lever for what I believe is part of the PTO under the lever. See photos for history since owned.”

“Willys. 1946 CJ2A (agri Jeep or farm jeep) Note the extra shifter in the floor….. I purchased this Jeep from my parents estate. My dad had many Jeeps through the years and this one he thought was special because not many agri jeeps were produced. Has been in storage for last 8 yrs right where these pics were made. I did crank it a few times but I think fuel pump has gone bad since. 134cu.in. “Go Devil” engine makes 63 hp @ 2,000 rpm.
These Jeeps were hitched to plows, cultivators,mowing machines, harrows,and lime spreaders to tackle common farm tasks. Tires are dry rotted, there is a small hole in floor board on pass side [see pic] all other sheet metal seems to be in good shape. Chassis not rusted, only surface rust. Was painted best I can remember 20 yrs ago… New top bows as indicated in pics, do not have the canvas top. Tilt out windshield. Also have an extra engine, transfer case and trans, along with 2 extra heads. Not sure of the year but looks to be the same thats incld. Will assist in loading. Could get it running and drive as is or restore.”

“***I am helping a friend sell this, please be patient and I will answer questions as I am able to relay them and get a response*** VIN: 38222 1946 Jeep Willys CJ2A 77 year old vehicle in fantastic condition has minor dings here and there but no major dents or damage to body or frame. Has some surface rust on undercarriage as shown. Needs a little TLC and can be a great winter project. Starts every time, but can be a little touchy with a one barrel carburetor. Numbers matching engine, original dash information tags included. Mostly original except basic maintenance items. Also unsure about the paint being original. Unlikely, unless the paint is very faded because research suggests the factory blue would’ve been much darker. New battery in 2019, whole fuel system replaced, fuel filter, fuel tank all done by Hubbell’s Auto Repair in Marion, IA. Had professional welder check over undercarriage and did frame brace welding work. Factory storage bin under passenger seat was professionally refabricated and welded by the same welder and he did a great job. Factory bikini top included. Originally 6V converted to 12V prior“
