1948 CJ-2A Hattiesburg, MS **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** $750.

It’s been modified in some unusual ways.

“1948 Willy Jeep, not running. Sitting on an early ’80s CJ frame with a Buick V6 under the hood. Ignition needs rewiring, and fuel tank/pump needs to be pulled and checked out/sealed. Will turn over, but couldn’t get it to fire with starter fluid. Bought it to fix up, but have since bought a new house and until I get a shop built at the new house, no room for all my projects. Comes with tow bar that is attached to the front and will throw in the ignition switches I purchased to install. It’s rough looking, but would make a fun project or hunting truck. Currently no fluid in the brake reservoir and I’m unsure on what they’ll need. No title, but I’ll provide a bill of sale along with the bill of sale I received and a copy of the last registered owner information that I have. That’s about everything I know about it. $750 obo. Will consider trades for an ATV, double door white refrigerator & cash (email dimensions), .45 cal pistol (looking for a Kimber ultra carry, but will consider others), tractor, box blade…..”

1940s CJ-2A Farmington, NM **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was  “Make Offer”

To the seller’s credit, they don’t sugar coat a couple of points,  including noting the decent body, ugly hood scoop built around the radiator, [and] really awful paint.

“CJ2A has been parked a long time, was running 4 years ago. Its a project but could make a good cheap hunting/ranch/camping/rock crawler. Has a rebuilt Ford V8, hanging peddle conversion, decent body, ugly hood scoop built around the radiator, really awful paint. I will include another hood, a correct gas tank, a heavy duty roll bar, a tow bar, military gas can with mount, a jeep 15 inch spare wheel and a factory tire carrier. No title, bill of sale only, sold as is, can help with delivery if not to far away or maybe for the cost of diesel if out of town. Would consider part trades for jeep stuff/parts, winch, military/hunting/cowboy stuff etc”

The front axle has the factory lockouts that are functional. There is an additional 1956 CJ-B tub, fenders, hood and grill that go along with this that is in great shape. this jeep is body parts only. I also have an extra pair of original hard doors that go with this. These jeeps would be great for going back original or making a fun toy.”

1948 CJ-2A Lincoln City, OR **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000

This looks like a great price.  This would probably make a good foundation for a project, given the updated motor, windshield, a good top, and misc parts.

“This is a 1948 Willy’s Jeep CJ2A. It is not ALL original, however, the body, transmission (T-90 manual 3 speed), transfer case, shifters, seats, and windshield are. It also has a rear tow hitch and front tow bar so you may tow it away behind another vehicle. The transmission may be 61 years old, but it still runs and shifts like a champ. It includes aftermarket roll bar, top, swinging jerry can and tire rack, and an almost new exhaust system (dual cherry bombs). The brakes were recently re-done. The engine is a 1964 225 V6 Buick engine with a Rochester single barrel carburetor which was recently re-built. There is no way to tell how many miles are on the engine, as it is not original. It can really move if it needs to. As of right now, the transmission has been dropped, as the clutch has gone out, and will need to be replaced before it can run. I’m not sure which clutch it needs, a Buick or Jeep, as the transmission is original and the engine is not. Tail lights, head lights, blinkers, and hazard lights all work. There is no fuse box, but several in-line fuses have been installed. It’s a shame for me to have to sell this old Jeep, but I simply don’t have the time nor the money to restore it to is original beauty.”

1947 CJ-2A Wichita Falls, Tx **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

1947_cj2a_wichitafallsUPDATE:  Was $2000. **SOLD**

It looks good on the outside, but sounds like it could use a little bit of maintenance.  The windshield frame looks bent.

“1947 CJ2A for sale. This jeep is perfect for the deer lease or as a starter for a frame up restoration. It has some needs but it runs great and has had a ton of work done in the past year. It could use some transmission work (pops out of second on occasion), a new exhaust manifold, some gaskets replaced to slow a few leaks, and some metal work on the floor pans but it shouldn’t need anything if you want to use it on the trail or at the deer lease. In the past year, I replaced the intake manifold, distributor cap and wires, rebuilt the starter, rebuilt the generator, replaced the shocks, replaced all of the seat cushions and the back seat frame, put on new brake shoes and replaced brake lines, replaced the brake master cylinder, rewired most of the jeep, replaced the gas tank and fuel hose to the carburetor, stripped off all of the old paint and gave it a garage paint job for protection. It starts right up every time and runs great for a 1947”

My Build: Where to put the CB?

• CATEGORIES: Biscuit This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The last time I did any serious jeeping was long enough ago that I’d never heard of a cell phone.  Instead, we communicated wirelessly through a really hot technology called a Citizens Band (CB) Radio.  It was long enough ago, that CBs were still cool.  It was amazing.  We could all communicate, sort of, in between static, wirelessly.  It was so cool!

So, of course, Biscuit’s an old school jeep, so it has to have a CB.  Fortunately, among the parts jeeps I purchased a couple years ago, I managed to recover 2 CBs, one of which still works.  I figured that there still aren’t any cell towers on the Naches Trail (please don’t tell me if there is … I’m turning off my cell phone … turning on my CB, so I can listen to it crackle), so I’ll still get to use a CB, even if it is less frequently than before.

Now that I’ve decided to install a CB, where do I put it?  I considered a couple options (hang off the front roll bar loop/ off the dash board / off the windshield), but decided I would piggy back it onto my center console (documented here).  I used some flat steel from a different part of the same chunk of hood that I used to make the console.

Here’s the basic pattern I cutout.

cb_the_pattern

After cutting the piece out of the hood, I sanded it and bent it.  Then, I drilled some holes between the old piece and the new piece and used poprivets to connect them.

cb_inprogress1

cb_inprogress2

cb_inprogress3

Below the console is installed, though not painted yet, showing how the CB will sit.  The power wire and antenna wire will feed from the console.  You can see how scratched up the console is already.  I’m saving the repainting for the next, inevitable, rebuild.
