Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (06/14/2010) Here’s a good setup.
“I pulled this complete from a rolled CJ2A but will fit a CJ2 CJ5 and others. Twin stick Spicer 18 transfer case with Spicer 18H chain drive PTO. T90 transmission, drive shafts for axles, parking brake. Big Foote Bros winch, not a little Ramsey ot Koenig winch and PTO drive shaft. The truck was running when rolled but I can’t confirm anything about condition. Being sold as a complete unit for $500 OBO 818-394-0028.”

Here’s a fantastic price on a Th350 tranny w/adapter w/ the chev bolt housing for only $250! The adapter alone sells for $500ish new.

Here’s an unusual, rebuilt combo for sale.
“Granny low, Borg Warner T-19 with Advanced Adapters to fit GM V8 motor. Low 4.32 1st gear with a Range-torque Splitter overdrive. mounted to Dana 20 Jeep transfercase. $$$1450.
Built for 84 Jeep CJ7 with GM V8 conversion. All units were rebuilt with new bearings, gaskets and small parts and good gears. Built by San Jose shop Bullshift Transmissions by owner, for his own vehicle. Not to be sold individually, sorry”

“Have a newly rebuilt Chevy SM420 transmission. Bought it originally for my Willys wagon and never installed after going with a different drive train. This trans is one of the best for off roading due to its low 1st gear and is great in short wheelbase rigs since its only about a little over a foot long. This Trans also comes with an extra 420 that is not in great shape but its extra parts! I also have a Advanced Adapters SM420 to Dana 18 alum. adapter along with a twin stick Dana 18 T-case for sale as well. Asking $300 for the two trannys. Dan just picked up this SM420 pretty cheaply, but it has a remote shifter rather than a tower shifter. Anyone have a SM420 Tower they don’t need? If so, leave a comment below and I’ll make sure Dan get’s your message.
Dan notes this tranny came from a M-561 6×6 (note inscription on serial number). Here’s a link to Olive Drab which describes them.
