Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This book was printed in 1951 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Though the jeep itself isn’t illustrated all that accurately, a Willys pickup appears in the book that is much more accurately drawn. The wheels on the front and back of the book are riveted on so they can spin.
This ad was published January 12, 1949, in the Lewiston Daily Sun.
This article from the January 1958 issue of Willys News highlights the Holly-Bluff-on-the-Jordan ranch at Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, owned by James L. Crump.

Christian Pawlak and some of his jeep-owning friends just completed a thousand mile trip from Germany to Colonna, Italy, and back. In Colonna, they joined the Liberta/Column of Liberation celebration with 150 vehicles and almost 500 participants. They encountered some mechanical problems and some poor weather, but in Italy they had a great time chatting and eating. He shared a photo of their adventure below and will publish a story about their trip at his website when he has time. Click on the pic to view a much larger version.
This May 17, 1944, article from the Toledo Blade highlighted the dispute regarding who was the inventor of the jeep.

“1949 Willys Jeep truck for sale or trade. Truck is in decent condition but does not run and will need to be towed. Ran and drove before being parked last. Has had a lot of work done and will make a great project vehicle. Also includes extra transmission transfercase with warn overdrive, and a few other parts.”

“1978 AMG JEEP dj5f inline 6 232ci clean title out of DMV system so no back fees this car is complete all original from USPS that means the jeep is RHD! All lights work headlight, dome, brakes, blinkers wipers and Fan works. motor has low miles 55xxx cranks over compression is good previous owner had carb changed I adjusted it and put all vacuum lines on but don’t think I found a reliable source will take to my mechanic soon once I get it running price will go up”
