Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. According to a February 1956 article in Willys News This jeep owner was using a jeep-a-trencher to launch his pipeline business.
Charles shared pictures of this odd French vehicle called a Laffly.
This unique South Africa Personnel Carrier was owned by the Union Mine. That’s one strong looking roof! In the last photo it looks like there’s another one of these in the background. See new ones here.

This is a rough project.
“THIS IS A VERY EARLY PRODUCTION WILLYS MB. IT HAS SLAT GRILL AND REAR WILLYS SCRIPT. THE VIN IS I02095.
THIS CAME FROM A FARMERS FIELD WHERE IT HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE THE 1950’S. THE JEEP FLOOR BOARD IS VERY RUSTY BUT THE REAR IS PRETTY GOOD. THE MOTOR WAS COVERED AND HAS OIL IN IT. TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE ARE STILL IN THE JEEP. THIS WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT WILLYS TO RESTORE GIVEN IT IS SUCH AN EARLY PRODUCTION. PLEASE SEE ALL THE PICTURES WHICH INCLUDE A LOT OF PARTS. NO TITLE. WILL PROVIDE BILL OF SALE.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $11,000.
RJ is selling his good looking CJ-6.
“I have for sale my 1967 CJ6 half cab. It was a frame off restoration, however, paint color and half cab is not original to the jeep. A lot of new and rebuilt part. Original drivetrain; Dauntless V6 engine with rebuilt T86 transmission and T18 transfer case. Dana 27 front axle, Dana 44 rear. All new steering linkage with rebuilt Ross steering box. Driven 2,3 times weekly. Starts right up and gets a lot of attention everywhere you go. Asking $11,000 OBO. Located in South Louisiana.”
A rare Willys Cargo-Personnel Carrier is about to undergo a restoration by the Ione Parlor of the Native Sons of the Golden West. This one is in pretty rough shape and sports the 6-226 Hurricane Motor. However, the running gear had already been gone through.
Information and specs beyond the brochure are difficult to find. Even good photos of them are rare. If anyone has any additional information on these, email Robert at buckydodle@yahoo.com.
