Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. UPDATE: Still Available. Listed as a 1948, new pics confirm this to be a 1946 CJ-2A or earlier (as Sean also mentioned). It has floating hubs, too.

“Willys Jeep – 1947 model. Makes an interesting parade, kids and adults both seem to like it. Or can be a project jeep if you want to rebuild to like new. 4 wheel drive works. Does run and can be licensed as is but it does smoke a little. Not licensed since 2007. Electrical system is 12 volt and starter rebuilt just before I quit licensing it. Ignition system was rebuilt before I purchased a number of years ago. Will slip out of 2nd gear if let up on gas and don’t shift. Brakes are fair. Mileage unknown. Battery weak but will include new battery for $50. There are a number of rusted out areas but does not show when driving. See pictures. (note: fake Gatling gun is NOT included)”

I’d never run across this ad. It was published in the December, 02, 1948 Heppner Gazette-Times.

Has some mods. Looks solid. Has some early Free-Lock hubs.

I just did a complete rebuild of the jeep New brakes New paint New seat covers and everything mechanically has been gone over.It has a 350 Chevy engine with a 4 speed trans.LOTS of power!!4 inch lift and 33″ tires. Runs great and everything works. Rifle and holder not included neither are the tools and jerry can.Asking $6500.00 or BO Call or text with any questions”

“1950 2wd willys station wagon. it has a camaro front clip with power front disc brakes, camaro rear end and a 1958, 283 v8 with a automatic transmission. runs and drive very nice. I do believe it needs some front end work to make it drive perfect. The only reason we are selling it is, it is to small to pull our vintage travel trailer.”
