Auto Show in Costa Rica

This past weekend Gustavo and his CJ-3A participated in a vintage car show in Costa Rica.  He took some pics for us.

He writes, “Last weekend I was invited by the Costa Rican Antique Car Club to an Expo they organized and I wanted to share some pictures with you guys.  There were around a hundred different cars, from Fords Model T up to a DeLorean, and obviously Jeeps where there, including my 1949 CJ-3A.  It was a great Jeep weekend.  The 1932 Hot Rod was Meguiars Car of the Year (at Costa Rica) and they are taking it to SEMA.”

These first pics are of the jeeps.  More pics of the car show are on the next page.  Gustavo’s is the blue CJ-3A.

1948 Truck Portage, Mi **SOLD**

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was listed at $7500

Chris is selling his beautiful truck.  He has a complete history of ownership as well.  Looks like a good price to me.

“Here is a brief history of this truck.   The truck was originally owned by two brothers that used it in upper Michigan on their farm for light work duty.   They kept it in the original condition and when the second of the two brothers died, the truck went to their nephew.  The nephew is about my age and he didn’t know much about the truck accept that his instructions were not to sell it to anyone that wanted to modify it, change it or not appreciate the nature of it.  Another younger guy looked at it before me but he wanted to turn it into a Mud jumper truck and the nephew couldn’t bear to see that happen.

I’ve loved Willys jeeps since a kid but my Dad could not afford one.  After my Dad died I found this truck.    I’ve owned this truck about 15 years.  Always garaged, never driven after November or before April due to salt and never abused.   I use it for work around the yard hauling stuff and going to the dump.

It has the original L-134 flathead 4 cylinder engine which makes about 60 horsepower.  Good compression in all the cylinders and I have not replaced the valves so I add the lead substitute to the fuel.  I had the generator replaced last fall since she wasn’t keeping a charge, and now she puts out about 150 amps with the original 6 volt system.   There are no accessories in this truck, no fan heater, no defroster, no radio, just like 1948.  The heat is knob down by the passenger floor.  The wipers are vacuum.   The speedometer is stuck at 20mph but she only goes about 40 mph tops anyway any faster and you have to really hang on!  The truck did come with an oil filter, which seems like it  was an option in 1948.

She runs great.  The interior and seats are all original as is the headliner.  The turn signals are an add on since they didn’t have them in 1948.  The shift linkage is a 3 on the tree with the transfer case and hi/lo range on the floor.”
