1946 VEC CJ-2A Culver City, CA $12,000

Appears solid. Nearly ‘all’ original.

“Up for sale all original 1946 Willys CJ2A. Runs and drives super smooth. Recently work done on all oils replaced, transmission gasket changed etc. Very powerful torque, easily goes 45 mph, it could go 55 mph but didnt try it. I restored it partially after getting from a ranch sale last year it was used on the farm and around town as a work horse. Great original patina and sound. 4 WD works nice as well. I wouldnt change anything on this beauty. Electrical bulbs might need to replaced, thats all.”

1946 CJ-2A VEC? Ogden, UT Auction

Roger shared this CJ-2A with driver side indents. I suspect that top requires the vertical windshield. The bidding is currently at $3300 with 9 hours to go. The drain holes have been filled and bow holders removed, so this likely has had some bodywork. It’s listed as a 1945, but more likely a ’46.

1945 VEC CJ-2A Fernley, NV Hemmings Auction

Thanks to Mike for sharing this VEC CJ-2A that’s being auctioned on While not a perfect restoration, there’s a lot to like here and it’s a long ways towards that goal. The jeep includes a rear PTO gearbox and drum pulley. While functional, the exhaust pipe appears under the frame in the first pic, so that would be a good thing to correct. The front frame rail area could use some restoration, too.

“You’ll need to look twice, but this is a fetching and genuine example of American automotive history. The seller states that this 1945 Willys Jeep CJ-2A, from the first year of civilian Jeep production, is also the 325th such vehicle built in 1945, based on its tub and serial numbers, which the seller says were commonly mismatched in those years. Believed to have been originally sold in California, the Jeep is reported to have undergone a four-year, body-off restoration that included a new master cylinder and wiring harness. Described as 90 percent complete, the Jeep is reported to have a rear-mounted power takeoff with a flat belt drive.”

1946 VEC? CJ-2A Sidney, MT Auction

John shared this online auction for a VEC? CJ-2A with a column shifter. It doesn’t appear to have had indents, so this may be in the 3XXXX serial number range.

“3 speed on column (Rare), 5 new military tires, restored gas tank and radiator, drives and runs. Sidney, MT Bill of sale.”

1945? VEC? CJ-2A Greeneville, TN No Price

This may be a VEC, but I don’t see anything to indicate it is a ’45. Most likely it is a 1946.

“Thinking about selling my 45 Willy’s. I have owned it for about 8 years or so and I just don’t drive it. It has the original drivetrain and runs very good for its age. Anyway I just don’t have a clue what these things are worth these days. Would anyone mind sharing their opinion on the range that these things are going for these days? I am clueless and any help would be greatly appreciated”
