Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It’s been a crazy couple months. Somewhere along the line I obtained copies of the March 1946 Semi-Annual Willys-Overland Report. I think this came from Barry’s Farmjeep site, but I couldn’t find it yesterday.
This report demonstrates that Willys-Overland was trying to lay the groundwork for two basic product lines: A Utility Line of vehicles and a Passenger Line of vehicles. The company also claimed that the passenger line vehicles would be introduced in 1947.
This video has clips showing captured equipment, surrenders, demolitions, and more. At the end there’s a look at several first aid jeeps bearing four stretchers at a time.

Listed as a 1950, the later model grille, large speedo, and solid windshield suggest it is more like a 1960. Needs some work.
“Cool vehicle! Clear title. Good condition considering age. Needs TLC that we would love to give it but we have too many projects! Driven a few years back but carburetor needs some attention now. Not original engine – engine is a a V6 out of a 1989 Buick 231.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $5000.

“For sale 1948 Willys Cj 2A
Have been working on restoring this Jeep for the past couple of months. Just had a baby and focus has shifted away from it. Someone can pick up where I left off. I’m pretty good with the cosmetics and have been doing a lot of the work myself. Sealed up on the dash where once was a radio. “Selling my M38 G-740 Korean War jeep. Great candidate for restoration or drive as is. T-90 3 speed transmission hi-lo and 4×4 in and out. Clean title in my name ready to transfer. These jeeps are better than any side by side UTV hands down. New tires and new “correct exhaust”. The jeep could use brake and steering adjustments. Lights aren’t hooked up. It has all the data plate minus one. Has the data plate behind the passenger seat too. Runs strong, will do 55+ mph. Looking for Ford GPW or parts.”
