There is some floor rust and the brakes don’t work, but it does have a nice patina and a unique overhead upholstery strategy.

“1955 Willys wagon 4×4 Super Hurricane 226 90k miles. Originally purchased by the San Francisco phone company. My friend’s father bought it from them in 1960. I have his original title in an envelope dated 1961. He drove it lightly around the Bay Area until the brakes went out in 1989. Last registered in 1988. If you do the math, he was getting up in years, so it has sat since then. He died at 100, I purchased it from my friend, his son, five years ago. here’s a list of some of the things I’ve dealt with:

Head magna fluxed and resurfaced, cylinder walls and rings appear good for a long time.
Some new glass and fresh window seals.
POR15 on underside of roof, sound padding, new custom headliner made of coffee sacks.
Custom made birch door panels (I have originals).
New Hercules HDT tires
New fuel tank, line, pump, rebuilt carb.
New aluminum radiator, hoses, thermostat, pump, and electric fan (have originals)
New wiring harness, NOS turn signal switch, new battery, rebuilt distributor, generator, and freshened up functioning starter.

The brakes are seized and need to be completely gone through. I started making new lines and stopped. It comes with a new dual reservoir master cylinder. Stuff was stored on the floor pans and a window was cracked, so the pans are rotted and need replacement. Other than that the body is pretty straight and rust free for its age. Front seats need upholstery, back ones have very little wear, but are old and brittle. The suspension, transmission, steering and differential condition are all unknown, but my friend doesn’t remember problems, but it is old and not used in a long time. All of the systems need tweaking to get it reliable, but a lot of work, care, and expense has already been taken. I hate to see this project go, but it must. I am not anxious to get rid of it, I prefer to find a good home and be fair. I will be as honest as can be with this exchange.”
