1948 CJ-2A (and FJ?) Bogata, TX

UPDATE: The jeep didn’t sell on eBay. It’s back for sale here: http://www.ewillys.com/2017/04/29/1948-cj-2a-paris-tx-2500

Mike shared this auction of a CJ-2A with a fiberglass body. In the background he spotted an FJ. It’s unclear if that is purchasable or not, but I was able to track down the gas station in Bogata. There’s also a pic at the bottom of this post.

“1948 willys cj2a jeep, has a fiberglass tub, so no rust through on body, chevy 350 v8 engine, was last cranked about 6 months ago, vehicle has been sitting in my shop for several years, needs a new ignition switch wired up, gas tanks hooked back up an some brake work, currently they are not working.. like I say the jeep has been sitting for several years an may need some tinkering here an there to get back on the road again.. the motor ran strong in it, has long tube headers, mild cam, 4 barrel edelbrock carb, dual point setup, it would be a great project for someone, I just don’t have the time for as many projects I have, so thinning the heard a little, have clean title 1948 in hand for the jeep, buyer responsible for pickup or shipping,”

Not to be picky, but there are actually 2 FJ’s and maybe more at this location. Dave in your first photo of the CJ look over the drivers side seat and the background is a different FJ? It appears to be an extended panel body version. I didn’t know they had that version of an FJ? He/She also sold an FJ on eBay recently for $5,222.01 that you listed on Feb 6 2017. It may be a very rare one but I wouldn’t know at all. Could be an excellent sheet metal/body workers job? I’m going on Google Earth to check things out.

I thought that was the same FJ? One photos shows it with the grille and the other doesn’t. However, I could be wrong? This investigation needs on the ground feet. Sounds like a good reason for a trip to Texas! 🙂

Yes they’re different ones the second photo is of one sitting beside the building, different bumper and no grill. The other is the FJ3A version. The other FJ3A sold on eBay and it wasn’t in such good condition as the one by the old dull yellowish Partridge Family bus. I’m still looking from above on Google Earth. No telling what they have there.

Dave the one you listed on Feb 6 2017 sold and it is the one beside the building as in your 2nd photo. Same spots on the front-end. They just reinstalled the grill and kept the same bumper. Wow they got that much for that? That would make the other more valuable because it is better condition with the correct front bumper to boot. Dang!

The second photo is the same as the one listed below on Feb 6 that sold on ebay. The first photo appears to be a different FJ – note the windshield wipers and side mirror bracket. So there were two FJs at this location, maybe one remaining.
