Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Complete 1947 Willys Jeep Project. This Jeep was converted to run with a 192 engine. It was a running driving Jeep before is was disassembled to be restored. Everything to get it going again is there. It has all been stripped and the frame was sand blasted and painted. The front and rear end were totally gone through. The entire brake system has been re done. Also, brand new springs were installed. The transmission has the warn overdrive installed on it!! The rims are in good shape. The tub needs a little bit of rust cut out on the front floor, painted and reassembled. I have both front seat frames and the hard to find rear seat frame.”

“I’m selling my ’48 Willys project. I started off with a body off restoration. Frame sand blasted, primed and painted. Eng and trans painted. New yokes and seals on the transfer case. New brakes from the master cylinder to the wheel cylinders. Many new engine parts and new air intake. New rear crossmember/bumper. Refurbished radiator. New body panels that haven’t been installed. New gauges. I got a little in over my head when it comes to restoration.”

(10/07/2014) Looks solid. Seller believes the jeep was built in 1945, though it seems to be missing the column shift and a couple other items. It does have full floating rear hubs.

“For sale is a 1946 Willys CJ2a. This is first year jeeps were offered to civilians. It drives great, four wheel drive works, hubs lock out, engine is smooth. All work has been professionally done (have receipts.)
Listed as one of the three most important weapons for winning World War II, these jeeps are legendary. This one has been updated to feature very high quality and comfortable front and back seats from a 52 Jeep, all updated wiring (12v) and everything necessary to make it a reliable vehicle. It also has spare tire mount on the passenger side, rather than on the back.
This jeep will also come with all if the original steel wheels and functioning military spec tires. I have tires on it from a Scrambler, just because it’s a more comfortable ride. The jeep will also come with a t-bar so you can tow the jeep behind any vehicle with a 2″ hitch.
Can be easily outfitted to be a military parade jeep, or beefed up to be a monster. I’ve had a great time driving it around as is… It will go just about anywhere.
I get stopped everywhere I go, by guys with beefed up rubicon JKs, by military vets, or just people who remember these types of jeeps when they were growing up. People are really interested in a 68 year old Jeep that can still get around. It’s a conversation starter to say the least.

It’s a project.
“It is a 1946 Jeep Willy’s powered by the reliable 134 cubic inch, 60 horsepower “Go-Devil” engine. It is at the point to where it could be restored to original or made into a modern Jeep. The only thing that has been updated on it so far is a 1.5″ shackle lift and a cushioned tractor seat. The stock wheels do come with it and the original gauges were pulled out of it, but do go with it as well.
It still has the original 6 volt system and purrs like a kitten when running. For being 68 years old it is in really good shape and a piece of American history. There has been some body panels welded into it at some point in its life, but the way it sits is the way it was when I purchased it. The only thing body wise that I have done to it is re-primer it since it sat out side for a few years and had surface rust. Transmission, transfer case and axles are all fine and work good, but there is no top with it.
I have researched online and Willys Jeeps in about the same condition is going for atleast $1000 more, so I feel this is a fair price for it. If you are looking for a project to restore or modernize and drive, this is the Jeep for you.”

“Selling this Willys CJ2A Jeep for parts or restoration. It is missing parts but may be a good start on a WWll Jeep project. Look at the photos and ask any questions. There is no title and rarely is on old jeeps. It will come as is . . I just don’t have time for it. It’s not running but rolls freely. Someone put a v-6 in it but the trans is original. It’s a project with an f-head.
“1946 Jeep CJ-2A in restorable condition. It is what you would expect an unrestored 68 year old jeep to be. But it could be the ultimate jeep if you are jeep lover looking for a project. I bought it a couple of months ago and just don’t have the time for this project. The CJ-2A was the first jeep sold to the public, and 46 was the second year it was made. At some point the motor was swapped to the Hurricane straight 4 cylinder. It has a hood scoop to accommodate the taller head. It is not running and I don’t know any history on it. The tires are dry rotted and the right front studs were cut to remove the wheel. It was stored inside for the last four years. Text for more info.”

The fender solution is unusual. They are curved rather than angular. I wish there was a clearer photo of the whole jeep.
UPDATE: Pics now provided. It’s not a completely unmolested jeep, but still quite stock. Check out those vintage tires. They kind of look like Desert Dog knock-offs.
