Looks interesting.
“RARE FACTORY ORIGINAL uncut 1946 Agrijeep. It is faded, has some dents, sat in the sun, and is not running. Has all the correct original Willys brass plates. Is equiped with an original Willys ( Not Reproduction ) power take off on the rear and an original Willys Capstan winch with the original four bolt roller. The jeep is a barn find. I have the 1960 registration and will give a bill of sale for the vehicle. It has a 1946 winshield which is not the original windshield, but is correct for the jeep, it has a broken glass pane. The original three speed on the column was replaced with a four speed on the floor – it still has the column shifter. The jeep is well used but all original, it was found in a walnut orchard with aprox 30,000 ( on the odometer ) miles. It is complete – it is all there, but I do not know the condition of the engine / transmission. The tires are very faded and sun cracked – the tires appear to be the original tires from 1946. There are some additional parts that go with it, canvas top, doors, etc. I researched this jeep, a jeep like this sold on Ebay for $7,900
I know how much the original jeep accessories are worth ( I have researched the value of the PTO and Capstan Winch – a reproduction winch is $3,250 if you can find one. ) I have looked all over the internet and have not found another original Agrijeep anywhere at any price, other than the one mentioned above – There are plenty of STANDARD 1946 jeeps, most have been modified or cut up a lot. This is a very original and very rare Agrijeep. You won’t find another one.
I was offered $2500 for the original Capstan Winch and $1500 for the PTO. I am asking $4,000 for the jeep and accessories, the price is firm. I have taxes to pay, so have to sell the jeep, otherwise I would keep it. The jeep is sold ” as is, where is “.”
I see some updates.

If this really has a 4:1 transfercase gearing, then this might be a fine price. Is the body a vec body?

“I have a solid project for the father and son or deer hunter. This is a 1946-1948 CJ-2A jeep that has potential. It does not run but the engine spins freely and the transmission and gear box both shift.”
It runs and drives.
“1947 Willys 100% stock. about 50,000 original miles.
Run and Drives But Needs Restoration!
Comes with Hardtop and 1949 homemade 4×6 trailer with cover.
The folks we got it from bought it in 1948 and used it to deliver newspapers.
We have the title for the Jeep but not the trailer.

A reader wondered why the price was so high. I wonder that too.
“Original Owner, 1948 Willys Jeep, CJ2A. This is an original owner vehicle that has been in the family since new, for 63 years. It has the original tires, top, and all other equipment as it did when it was picked up at the Jeep/Mack dealer in 1948. This vehicle has been kept in near pristine condition with no rust or dents. Still titled in the original owners name. The like new original owners manual is also included in the sale. This vehicle has been driven between 250-300 miles per year its whole life. It has about 150 miles on it so far this year. This is a once in a lifetime barn-find American icon that even has the only option available in 1948 which is all of the chrome beauty rings on the wheels and the spare.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.
Some updates were done to this.
“1947 Willys Jeep. Starts, Runs and Drives. Needs some TLC. Amateur Restoration done by previous owner. I don’t know a ton about it, but it is alot of fun. We simply don’t use it anymore – time for someone else to enjoy it.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1700.
This is a column shift. It’s had some body work done.
“This is 46 willys column shift…too.engine stamped GPW
It starts and runs very smooth and quiet
Needs clutch and possibly brake work.
It does not move on its own (clutch)
Alot of body panel work done…could be better but not too bad
frame great except for area in front…plow was mounted and did some damage…repairable.
Its a great start to a rare Willys but I am certain it will just sit in my barn for 20 years.”
I’ve only heard of a few flatties being stolen over the years. Keep a look out for this one.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $3300
(08/16/2011) Not a perfect restoration, but looks fun just the same.
“If you are in the market for a four wheeler but would like to be able to enjoy the ride with more than 2 people, this Jeep is for you!
It’s small enough to fit down most trails but big enough for family and friends to all enjoy!
This Willy’s runs great, along with having new shocks, alternator and has been well taken care of. I have owned it for the past 3 years, but it has been stored indoors for at least the past 10 years…since its restoration.
If interested please call 612-321-6206 and ask for Matt, thanks!”
UPDATE II: **SOLD** Was $2500

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
“This is a very clean, well restored, and well running CJ2A. You don’t see them like this very often. I hope I look this good when I’m 64 years old! Complete body off restore done in 2001 and garaged full-time since then. Driven occasionally in parades or short trips around town since then. I tried to keep everything original. It’s been in the family since before I can remember but it’s time to pass it along to someone else who will baby it.
Original flat head engine. Engine has been started regularly and runs great. Starts on the first crank every time. Doesn’t burn oil or leak. Belts and hoses are good. New radiator keeps engine nice and cool. Engine compartment is clean, no rust or corrosion, and everything is easy to reach. Manual choke. Foot starter. Starting the jeep by hand is very fun with the hand crank starter (included). Manual 3 speed transmission plus reverse. Odometer reads 1335 miles but I have no idea if that is accurate.
Jeep has been converted from 6V to 12V. New battery, new 12V generator, new wiring harness (every wire in the vehicle is new), lights and gauges are all new or originals that work fine, driver’s side heater with electric fan and on\off switch, high \ low bean foot switch, dash panel light. New headlights and brake light.
Body is in good shape. This is the original tub which was removed and new steel welded in to repair all existing damage. Front and rear floor boards are completely solid with no rust (unusual in jeeps this old). Tool box is clean and dry. New gas tank. Side mounted spare. Frame and underside was sandblasted down to metal, all damage was repaired and repainted. Shocks and springs are good. Drive train is solid. Brakes work well. Rubber floor mats fit floor boards well. Good solid roll bar. Jerry can mounted on rear.
Most rubber is new and in good shape. Window tie-down belt secures the fold-down window in place when its down. Wood blocks on the hood support window when its down. Pneumatic windshield wiper motor (missing the blade) works using engine vacuum. New heavy canvas from Beachwood Canvas Works with no tears anywhere. Seatbelts added front and back to make it legal.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1000.
The engine is apart.
“’47 Willy Jeep CJ2A. Flat Head ford engine. body in fair condition. Everything for under the hood there but in pieces. No interior, fuel tank. Have original seat frame. $1000 OBO.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000
This has an unusual front fog light (or turning light?) solution on the front grille.
“1948 Jeep Willy CJ2A — odometer reads 60383 miles — New Exhaust Pipe, Muffler, Tail Pipe, Carburetor, Master Cylinder, Fuel Pump, Wheel Cylinders and Brake Pads, Rewired. Hard to start at times, but runs good when started frequently. Driven on road in 2010. Garage kept since I have owned. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $750.
Unclear if it runs or not.
“I have a CJ-2A Jeep which I think was built in 1942 – 1945? I’m selling this for my father. As you can see there’s a fair amount of rust in the body so it’s maybe a good vehicle for parts. The engine looks to be a 4 cylinder and it has a manual transmission. No current registration but a bill of sale will be provided at the time of sale”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.
“1946 is the first year Willys manufactured the civilian jeep. Over 65 years young. Why not own a piece of history? Classic cars grow in value every year. This jeep was used as a gentleman’s grove jeep for many years.
Areas in the floor boards can use some welding repair, overall good condition. Jeep is titled and insured for street use. Runs great. Transfer, gear box, hubs operate perfectly. Spare tire / same as the 4 on the jeep. Spare parts include steering worm and pinion, new oil filter, rear shocks, new in box. Seats covered in green leather and seat belts added. New brakes, including all cylinders and hoses. Serviced September, 2010 ($1,600.00), bill available for inspection. Used little since. Garaged. Needs speedo cable. Amp wires reversed shows neg (-) instead of pos. (+)”
