Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1953 WILLYS JEEP. Rebuilt motor runs good. Frame and running gear good shape. This is the first year of the F-head engine so it is a high hood. Jeep does need some work, body has some patching and some more is needed . Some floor work would be needed as well as some brake work ( have brake parts ). “Willys CJ3B High hood Jeep. This jeep has some trail rash and rust, but it is still pretty solid. The engine runs great, the four wheel drive works great, and the breaks work (brand new Master Cyl.) (12/26/2012) The seller lists this a s a 1946, so it could be a collection of parts.
“This is a 1956 Willys CJ3B. I have just installed a new carb and fuel pump. It does run and idle smoothly, but the plug wires, cap, etc need to be addressed.
Drivetrain: The drivetrain is complete and the transmission, transfer case, and axles are operational. The clutch does need adjustment.
Body: The body has some rust but would be a great project to repair while you use it. Almost all of the sheetmetal that needs repair is flat sheet, so only basic skills would be necessary to repair. I have two different hard tops and one set of doors. I am unsure of the manufacturer.
Brakes: The master cylinder has water in it, so the brakes will need to be gone through
Suspension: The front springs are sagging.
If you want this shipped you will need to arrange your own carrier. I have a loading dock available if needed and the Willys can be driven onto a trailer. There are no titles for vehicles this old in Alabama. It will come with a bill of sale only. NO TITLE! The Bronco buckets are not included and the top of the fuel tank needs repair.”
No pics of the CJ-3B. There could be other jeeps. The seller has other vehicles for sale, too.
“Selling for my boss- 1961 Jeep FC-170. Very rare vehicle. This was origianlly used as a runway vehicle at a local airport. It needs love, but is 99% complete. I believe the motor is froze, has manual trans, some glass needs to be replaced, interior needs to be replaced, some rust issues. “Selling for a friend – 1953 Willys CJ3B. Runs and drives! Has clean MI title! Owner has had it for over 20 years. Body is okay, but need some TLC. I won’t be able to get pictures until the snow melts. Motor runs, but has a rod knock in the 4th cylinder. Trans shifts smoothly, tcase works and is functional. I’VE HAD IT A LONG TIME AND IT’S A GREAT JEEP BUT IT NEVER GETS USED ANYMORE. ORIG. WHEELS COME WITH IT ALONG WITH MANY SPARE PARTS. RIGHT NOW IT NEEDS VERY LITTLE WORK. THE HEATER IS OUT AND NEEDS TO BE CLEANED UP AND REINSTALLED PLUS I HAVE A SPARE. THE BRAKES NEED TO BE BLED BECAUSE I JUST REPLACED A BAD WHEEL CYLINDER AND ALSO HAVE A KIT FOR THE MASTER CYLINDER. RUNS GREAT BUT THE TIMING HAS TO BE SET BECAUSE I WAS SETTING IT BY EAR AND TURNED THE DISTRIBUTOR TOO FAR NOW I CAN’T START IT. NOTHING NEEDS TO BE REBUILT. 1954 Willys Jeep CJ-3
The Jeep has been the beneficiary of a 95% restore. Also, this is a current and professional restoration.
The original 2.2L 4-cylinder and the original 3-speed manual transmission were rebuilt so that the Jeep could be a provider of worry-free enjoyment.
The body/tub was professionally repainted a red/orange hue. The roll bar was refinished in a deep black hue.
The Jeep has new 15-inch wheels and tires. The tires measure 31/10.50/15.
The majority of the undercarriage, including the frame and the suspension components, was either replaced, restored, or refinished. Please view the pictures to gain an understanding for the condition of the underside of this Jeep.
The four-wheel drive is fully functional and the four-wheel drive is activated by way of the manual lockers.
