Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “For sale is a 1972 jeep cj5. It was purchased new by the canfield fire department in ohio and was used as a brush truck. It has a 304 V8 in it with a 3 speed, runs and drives perfect choke and everything still works fires right up. has like new tires on it with probably less than 200 miles on them. it has a warn 8000lb planetary drive type winch on the front of it which cost 2000 alone and it is still equipped with the light on top the radio the siren, and tank and pump in the back that runs perfect. it is 100% rust free and original minus the paint it was originally yellow the fire department had it painted red when they bought it and it still looks great, still even has windshield washer bag, and a working e-brake also still has the original brakelines too. i have the original service manual for it as well as all the maintnence records, overall a very nicely kept jeep that would make a collector a fine addition. or restore, keep in mind that this was used for brush fires and such therefore it has minor dings and dents mostly just the front fenders it isnt perfect but it is nice for its age. if you need any more details about it just ask so you know 100% what you are bidding on… (odometer shows 4370 miles and i was told this is accurate by the fire department and that is what the title says however the speedo quit on me while on my way to work about a week ago so it will need fixed i even found someone that does it, but you can tell just from driving it that it is extremely tight (even the manual steering that is known to always be sloppy on these jeeps and the transfer case is almost silent when in 4wd so i 100 percent believe the mileage.”
This has the coil springs on the rear along with a rear PTO and T-98 side shift.

“I have a 1957 willys cj5 for sale it runs and drives it needs work. The tires are like new. A lot has been done to it over the years and it is very sturdy, i drive it around on my property . I have a clear title for the jeep. It will start right up and go , but it lacks power in high gear up hill, goes great in low 4wd. Vacume wiper, it has been winterized from factory , it does have a heater , the doors and back hatch come off , you can remove the top but , I have not attempted it yet ,I have a gasket engine rebuild kit that also goes with the jeep. The starting bid on this is only $1200. It looks pretty good and likely has the 30 spline offset rear differential. Those rims are pretty rare, too.
“Everything about this jeep screams cool. It is a really fun car to drive and definitely willget attention. I had it for 4 years in East Hampton tojust cruise around in. I really dont want tolet it go but I am living in NYC pretty much full time now. This is a great beach wagon and probably the best place for it is near sun and sand. It is definitely a great summer time car and a great project car for some one who doesn’t have a ton of time to spend on getting it back to original. The major overhaul work has been done. There are just a few more minor tweaks to make and then tackle the cosmetics which is the fun part.”

“I have for sale a 1956 CJ5 jeep willys, it has been painted and partially restored by an individual. Has been converted from 6 volt system to 12 volt, has newer bikini top. The 4 wheel drive works, so it could be converted into a rock crawler. It is road ready, but does need brake work and lighing work. The tires are in fair condition. The interior DOES NOT have the original seats. The frame is solid with no rust. Transmission shifts fine and runs great. It is a 3 speed with reverse maual transmission. Has original ignition in it. (09/27/2012) I kind of like this purpose built jeep.
“This is a 56 willys cj5 that was used to work on oil field pipelines. the old jeep has a heavy steel bed and a war surplus braden winch that works and is worth good money to someone restoring a military vehicle. tires are good. the engine runs perfect. i put a new master cylinder on it. i had planned to use it at the deer lease as a work rig but never got around to it. has brand new gas tank also that has not been installed. asking 1950.00 cash.”
