Here’s another rare truck with a dump bed. A red truck with a dump bed was sold out of Vacaville earlier this month.
“1962 1/2 Willys Jeep 4-Wheel Drive Pick-Up Truck with Dealer Installed Dump Bed – Registered as 1963 but according to the numbers it shows a production date of 1962 1/2. Dealer installed dump bed, I was told there was only 100 of these made and after a lot of research I only found a few in existence. All original, also a great truck for original restoration or custom, this is a real classic. Bone stock original California rust free Willys, its got a couple of little bubbles as big as your finger nail, but nothing major. Driver and passenger door glass is cracked, it’s flat glass and replacement parts are available. This truck has never been modified, it looks to have been painted many years ago, it was originally the blue you see on the interior pictures. This truck spent most of it’s life on a gold mine in Northern California’s gold country. I purchased this truck from the president of the local Willys Club with intentions to restore, but the wife isn’t warming up to the idea. This is a running registered road worthy vehicle, runs and drives as a ’62 1/2 Willys should. I just had new rear brakes installed, new master cylinder, oil changed, all fluids top off, and a full safety check done by the local Big O Tires.
From 1962-1965 – Willys Jeep used the 230 CID (3.8 L) 6-230 Tornado I6, It was available with only one transmission, the Borg-Warner T-90 three-speed manual. A Spicer 18 transfer case was used on WD models. The Timken 51540 was an early rear axle option, otherwise the Dana 53 was standard. The front axle was a Dana 25. A 5.38:1 differential ratio was standard.
