UPDATE: *SOLD** Was $4500.
This isn’t quite original, but looks good.
“This first civilian version of the US Army Jeep remains in near original state. I have the original front and back seats. The Willys was stored indoors since 1998. I replaced the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, cleaned the fuel system, rebuilt the carburetor, put in fresh plugs, points, rotor, capacitor and distribution cap. The 6 volt system operated the lights and starts the Willys with ease. The differential lube has been changed as well as fresh oil in the motor. The original style tires are mounted with tubes and hold air, but I’m not sure how road worthy they would be. The picture shows just how original this Willys actually is. It would make a great ranch or hunting Jeep. It comes with tow bar not pictured. Asking $4500 or best offer, but don’t hesitate to make a reasonable offer.”
Someone invested some time and money into this rebuild.
“For sale is a 1946 CJ2A that has just been completed from a frame of restoration. EVERYTHING on this jeep was taken apart and made like new again. The axels were completely rebuilt all new bearings and seals. There are new brake shoes and lines running to all the wheels, along with all new wheel cylinders. The frame was sand blasted down to the metal prepped with a anti-rust formula, and painted with several coats of chassis paint. Both the amazing original 4cyl engine and T-90 transmission were completely rebuilt with new bearings, gaskets, seals, rings, spark plugs, wires, distributor, new clutch disc and carrier, and everything professionally checked out Also the Engine was custom fitted with a newer and easier style oil filtration system to keep it running forever. The Jeep has been converted to 12v system and in now running a new single wire alternator, coil, and rebuilt starter. This CJ has also had a steering conversion to power steering. It now runs off a saginaw power steering gearbox, and a new p/s pump. The Steering column has been replaced with a very high end Flaming River tilt steering column setup and walnut Grant steering wheel. The Jeep was further customized, by adding completely custom and one of a kind walnut dash covering, full roll cage, and a custom made front and rear bumper, and has also been fitted with seats from a 2008 Jeep Patriot. The Jeep sits 4 inches higher with a brand new Superlift 4″ suspension lift, having all new Superlift leaf springs and shocks. With the Jeep also comes the four 17″ Black Rock Wheels plus a fifth matching one for a spare, and a 1950’s Military style jerry can for a little extra gas when you need it. The Jeep runs and drives great and has 20 miles on it since its completion the 20th of August 2010. And is great fun driving around with the top down or even on rainy days with its new Best Top Tigertop. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.”

Colin asked me the other day if i was familiar with Al-Toys. I had to admit I wasn’t. It turns out he has a nice little collection of them and shared some of the history of Al Toys.
Colin writes, “If you go to the CJ-3B Page and click on Jeep toys, then scroll down until you come to Al-Toy collection (another CJ-3B Page link here), that might give you a better idea of what they were. They were manufactured by Central Casting, aka Toledo Brass, aka Central Brass Works in Toledo under license from Willys.
When the CJ2A was introduced by Willys in July, 1945, they produced the CJ2A sand cast aluminum Jeep for Willys to present to VIPs and high wolume dealers for Christmas, 1945. In late 1946, they opened that toy up for sale to the public at Christmas.
Willys introduced the Willys Pickup in late 1946 for release in 47, Al-Toy made the Willys truck for the Christmas gift to Willys VIPs and dealers. Some may have been released later to the public.
With Willys planning to introduce the Jeepster in early 1948, Al-Toy produced the maroon Jeepster for presentation to again, the Willys upper echelon and high volume dealers for Christmas, 1947. This toy was never sold to the public.
In 1949, Willys introduced the 4WD station wagon and for Christmas 1948, Al-Toy did the station wagon, and this toy was never released to the public. For Christmas, 1949, Al-Toy did the Jeep Fire Truck. This was also not released to the public.
For numbers, those are a little vague, but several thousand CJ2A toys were produced and are the easiest to find on eBay and other toy markets. The pickup was not real well made as far as attention to detail and several hundred of those were made. Only about 200 Jeepsters were made and possibly about 300 of the station wagon. The Fire Jeep reportedly only had 50 made, with the possibility of another batch of 50 being made.
So these toys are rare. I have a dozen or so of the CJ2As; one of the Jeep truck, which I got from Jim Marski, one Jeepster which I got out of Dayton, Ohio, one station wagon that I got out of Cincinnati and may have been part of the Schott Willys dealership collection, another station wagon which came to me in its original dated box, 12-48, and is in mint condition, never played with and one Fire Jeep which I got from a man in Scottsdale who collected fire apparatus toys and was paring down his collection.
My very good friend in Maine, Glenn Byron is sort of the guru of Al-Toys and he and I have collaborated on the history of these toys and submitted information to both the Willys Overland Jeepster Club and to Derek’s site.”
I was in the small town of Payette on Sunday and spotted this FC-150 just inside the fence of the TVM Salvage/Recyling Yard. It’s at the corner of 17th Ave N and N 3rd Street. Here’s their website http://www.tvmrecycling.com/ which shows the main office in Nampa.

“Here is your chance to get a great 1946 Willys. It’s a great project build. It does run. Text me for more info 956-358-6046 Rigo ”
The body appears a bit beaten up. I wonder if it runs.
“Husband has passed away and I haven’t got a clue how to run this Jeep! The plow goes with it. BEST OFFER!”
Not one, but two popups in the hood?
“I am updating the willy we have for sale with pictures – 41 jeep willy that we have had for the last 3 years, was running when we parked it, we had plans to restore but we are moving and decided to let it go. Needs paint job and seat restoration. Tried to start it and it wouldn’t start. Only serious inquieries. 812/340-7886”
These are some good parts awaiting a restoration.
“This is the one a collector has been waiting for! hard to tell if it was removed from the assembly line! as you will see in the pictures, absolutely no rust now or ever. it has been sitting in storage and needs to go. what you see is what you get! basicly complete body and frame. NO ENGINE OR TRANS/ TRANSFERCASE, NO WIRING, LIGHTS, SWITCHES, GAUGES. all the difficult parts are there though, as you will see in the pics. these models are extremly rare and i’ve been in the jeep business for over 30 years and never seen one like this before. this jeep does not have a title and is being sold as parts only. if you had a rusted out m38, add your powertrain and electrics and you will be done! if not capable, call me. i do restorations. heads up, reserve is around the price of a new body kit.”
