This is worthy of more pics. Looks very nice.

Some cleaning and paint (and a bumper and a headlight) would really help this jeep look good. This appears to have full floating hubs in the rear as well.

Brett spotted this M-38. The cage looks good and the body appears to have little rust. This might be a good price.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $500.
This sports a fiberglass body, which appears in reasonable shape. Given the cage and body, I’d say this is a reasonable price. However, it appears the cage is probably mounted to the body rather than the frame.
“1949 Willys CJ2A Jeep. Has good frame, original 5:38 axles w/ upgraded brakes, heavy springs and I think rear diff locker. No drive train. Has original hood, front fenders and windshield. Tub is fiberglass. Has Bestop soft top frame and door frames (top rotted away). Good title. This is good for a Jeep build starter project, parts, or another Jeep with title problems. CJ2A Jeeps were made from 1945-1949. The flat fender body and frames (except for the CJ3B) are basically the same from 1940-about 1954 when they changed to CJ5.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9000
(11/19/2009) Looks good. It’s built.
“Custom built jeep. Tons of work done; ARB air lockers, ARB heavy duty air compressor, full custom roll cage, 33×12.5 super swampers, weld bead lock rims, custom dash, much more work done. Must see to appreciate.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was 3000
Lots of work done here. It needs a fuel pump at the very least.
“1949 Jeep CJ3B 305 TPI TH400 Ford 9″ Rear with Detroit Locker, Dana 44 Front, 4.56 Gears, Disc Brakes up front, power steering, power brakes, vehicle is stretched on a CJ5 frame, vehicle is a project and needs some work, currently needs a fuel pump to get running. I currently have the fenders off. Currently registered non-op, registration is current.”
This jeep sports an unusual cage.

UPDATE: This is back on eBay.
(06/20/2010) This jeep has some character. Note the image that shows ‘the relief hold’, which used to be the gas tank inlet.
“This is a very cool old willys with a neat history. This 53 Willys Jeep Cj3B was restored 15 years ago and used as a pace car and push start vehicle for cloverleaf speedway till it was shut down. It has cool vintage paint with hand drawn pin-striping, with some weather checking for that old school rat rod look. I have tried to keep it as original as possible, and still make a capable 4×4 wheeling vehicle out of it. Here’s a quick break down of it:
Solid frame, no major rust and most of it still has paint on it! Body has no rust showing, but has had bondo and fiberglass repair in the past. It is solid, but not a show truck! Front and rear tow points already attached …”
I *think* this runs, too.
“1963 CJ5 JEEP WILLIES, SOLID, 4WD, MUST SELL. JOE 330-309-3766, 330-877-3295.”
(10/26/09) I’m guessing it’s a CJ-3A, however the body appears to have a solid back, so it might be a DJ-3A body? The seller has included a long description.
“This is a 1940 or early 50’s Jeep Willys. I’m not sure because this jeep is registered as a 1967 due to the year of the motor. The motor is a Chevy 283 V8 from a 67’ Chevelle. This Jeep is full of goodies and will always be smog exempt ”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $3000
(05/04/2010) I think I’d swap on a different windshield, otherwise, this looks like a build ready for some trails. The tires and rims have to be worth a good chunk of money.
“1952 Willys M38A1, Ford 2.0 motor swap, full roll cage, brand new 32×9.0 Super Swampers Tsl, Hardtop with doors, comes with spare axles, drivelines and tranny, transfercase. be willing to trade 67 or earlier vw bus. Call Ryan

That’s a large diameter tube.

No price listed on the two tires. The cage and front shell seem like a good price.

(08/24/09) This looks like it might be a good price on an updated ’48.
“I have a 1948 willys jeep that I want to sell. I havent went jeeping for over a year. I would rather someone thats going to use it have it. It has a 327ci motor, with a 4speed trans. Spring over lift, and has 35″ tires. Starts and runs good. Mechanicly sound, needs a paint work. I have a 8000lb warn winch that i never mounted that can go with it. I also have two sets of tires, four 35-12.50r15, and five 34-9.50-15 swampers, both are mounted on wheels. ”
Yeah, it’s a bit rough. But, how can you not love the top?
“This is a 1948 Willys Jeep, ran until parked after last winter hunting season. Have a spare motor that goes with it for parts. The WINCH is not INCLUDED :o) The towing bar is included.
e-mail with any questions. $995.00 OBO”
UPDATE: A reader reports this has been sold.
This appears to be a very nice rig and I think it’s a very good value given it’s got a stainless steel chrome windshield. I’m pretty sure the seller means sm420 tranny. Interestingly, the very top pic on the bulletin board shows an external fan attached to the outside of the grille. I don’t know if that’s a new feature or an old one, but it would suggest there might be cooling problems.
“Thinking about selling the wifes rig. She never drives it and Im tired of seeing it sit. $4000 obo. 200 miles on new chevy 350, hyper pistons, small cam, 1.6:1 roller rockers, 4bb quadrajet carb. 31″ tires, 95% tread. “Low hood flatfender willys, with mid 80’s chevy Iron Horse 4 cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission. Engine runs and is installed but is not hooked up. New radiator core, 2-1/2″ lift springs, body is pretty strait .Good tires and wheels,Has steering column but not installed.I have original transfer case (doesn’t fit new trans) but nothing installed.4 point cage, no windshield frame or top.”
This looks like a very nice roll cage. You’d be hard pressed to make this cage for 3 times that price.
“6 point roll cage from willys flat fender jeep $100”
