UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $13,950
I purchased this 1951 Willys CJ-3A from a Willys enthusiast in Prescott, Arizona. At the time, I planned to buy a cabin in Prescott and store it there, to enjoy on weekends. My plans changed, and the Willys is in my garage in Phoenix. I am not able to use it like I planned. I love the little thing and don’t have to sell it, but someone should own it who can use and enjoy it as these vehicles were meant to be used and enjoyed.
Here is the March, 2013 ad to which I responded:

“I have for sale a running Jeep willy CJ2A. Live PTO. Needs some restoration but can also drive the way it is!”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
Appears solid.
“This 1951 Willys M38 is an excellent restoration candidate. It was in storage in Texas for about 20 years. It does have one small rust hole in the tub under the gas tank but otherwise its in very solid condition. The engine is not the original but it is the proper L Head 134 and it runs very well. It runs and drives, but needs the brake master cylinder replaced, I have a new one for it. Converted to 12 volt, but I do have a few 24v components to go with it.
Georgia does not issue titles for vehicles this old so it will be sold with a bill of sale and the previous owner’s TX title and paperwork. The vehicle has been inspected by a GA law enforcement officer and its serial number certified.
If not local call first please. This is a rare military jeep that needs the right owner who is going to preserve or restore it. Most jeeps of this vintage have been chopped up or rusted away. This is a good one! I have a set of spare axles that go with it for the asking price.”
UPDATE: Still Available. Likely a Maverick.
(05/01/2014) Bob spotted this. I didn’t know there were islands in Lake Erie that were part of Ohio.
“1961 Willys Jeep Station Wagon. 4 cyl 3spd 76k original miles, runs well, needs tires.”
Looks solid, but not ‘completely stock’. A steering box has been added and wiring updated with fuses. Looks solid.
“This is the Jeep you want…it has never been butchered or modified, it is completely stock. I am the 3rd owner. The only modifications that I have done is install Saginaw steering and Warn front hubs. The engine has a very fresh complete overhaul professionally done with approximately 5000 miles. It comes with a metal half cab with metal doors and soft doors. I hate to part with it but it is time for something different.”
The front bumper isn’t original, but the rest looks good.
“1This Rust-Free CJ2A was never abused, and has lived a pampered existence since frame off restoration. Always stored inside, not driven in foul weather. Mostly used for weekend jaunts. This is a great vehicle for any collection, or for use as a fun runabout in the country or the city. It’s ready to enjoy. Needs nothing, Runs perfect. Comes with a white best top and doors. Top bow is missing.”
This looks like a good jeep.
” From the Famous ZX 150,000 Acre Ranch eastern Oregon/ Nevada border since 1880’s Was sold at auction, when ranch sold in 1984/85 I purchased it from buyer in 1986. It was used by owners and VIP,s to tour the ranch when they were there. It is totally original, I had the engine bored 15 over, Rod & Main bearings crank turned. It was painted Red over the original red, has only about 3000 miles on engine . It has been in my garage, never outside since 1986 Seats are redone as original in black. It is has the original exhaust in perfect condition. Windshield and Glass , Wipers, instruments, all original only replaced parts are the temp gauge and the steering wheel. I do not use it anymore, I keep my car outside so I could use the space. Also trans was overhauled with the engine. Spare parts include, engine rebuilt, transmission rebuilt.New spare wheel and Tire not mounted in photos. Also New seats redone not in photos. Any questions I will answer, or make contact by phone anytime. Good luck bidding on this rare jeep”
Unusual color scheme. I keep thinking smurf-mobile.
“This Jeep was restored in the late 70’s early 80’s. The owner spared no expense as he intended to use it in local parades. He had the entire Jeep stripped and repainted with the Blue and White scheme shown. The engine and transmission were rebuilt at the time and everything was replaced to new condition.
After using it briefly in several parades the Jeep was tucked away in 1984 and has not been seen since until now! The Jeep is running and driving but as you can see there are some areas that will need to be addressed.
The paint is in fair shape and there is some rust starting to show with some separation on the hood and fenders. This is a running and driving Jeep powered by the 2.2 litre 134 engine with a three speed manual transmission and 4 wheel drive.
This is a fun Jeep that is ready for a new home and with a little TLC can be ready for the next parade!”

(08/22/2014) Brian forwarded this ad for a running and driving FC that needs some finish work.
“1957 jeep fc 150. Pretty good condition I think for its age and very hard to find. Whole jeep is painted with spray paint for quick and easy touch ups if needed.New tires less than 500 miles on them. Runs good and and drives nice. Has 4 cyl hurricane motor with a 3 speed manual tranny. Missing the windshield as u can see in pics.Needs a little more work to be finished but is drivable the way it is.”
UPDATE: Was $4200. **Status Unknown**
(09/17/2014) The drains holes have been filled.
“You’re looking at a really nice Willys Jeep CJ3B. The jeep is in overall great shape. It has the 3-speed transmission with hi-lo shifter as well as 2wd-4wd shifter. Runs & drives good. Clutch is good. Shifts properly and stays in gear. 4-wheel drive works as it should. Brakes all gone through, body and frame in excellent condition, new gas tank, new seat cushions & covers, newer battery, suspension gone through, and a fresh coat of paint. A couple of the gauges aren’t working, but otherwise everything works as it should. The body doesn’t look the greatest (lots of dents and dings), but it is rust free and painted. New floor pans, body mounts etc., were installed before the paint job. The frame is also remarkably rust free. Tires are like new. Hope to get all the fluids and gear lubes changed in the coming weeks, but if I don’t, I’ll include all the gear lube I bought for it. Also comes with a box full of spare parts and a spare tire/wheel that hasn’t been restored yet.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.
(08/30/2014) Brakes have been updated to 11″.
“1951 m38 military jeep Willys. Have all receipts since 1970’s. Have over 225 hours of documented work and repairs in the last 2 years at $30 an hour that’s $7500 in labor alone, have original oiled canvas top and doors. No oil leaks, runs like new, upgraded 11 inch drum brakes, tow bar, goes up almost any hill in 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive it will go up a vertical wall. Everything has been rebuilt and new gaskets over the years.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
(07/18/2014) Includes an extra, stock tub.
“1950 CJ3A Willys Jeep for sale. Original 6 volt system with Go-Devil engine. Runs solid with title in hand. Jeep needs minor brake work and is ready for the road (or off road). Many extras are included.
I bought this as a restoration project but no longer have the time. I have pictures of the whole process if the buyer is interested. This jeep is solid and comes with an extra original tub. There is nothing wrong with the current tub… but it had body work done to it in the past (not uncommon) that took away some of the original elements. I found an unmolested tub in Nebraska and had it shipped here and was converted it to original.
The title is clean and I will be sorry to see this jeep go, but need to devote my time elsewhere. Price is negotiable if the owner is not interested in the extra tub.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.
The Hudson Steering upgrade sure was popular in Colorado. Great looking 3B.
“I am selling my 1960 CJ3B jeep which I bought from the original owner about 20 years ago. Jeep is all original except it has hudson steering added which makes the jeep steer like power steering. Original F-head engine and running gear with 5:38 gear ratio. It has a aftermarket carburetor but I do have the original. It also has a koenig PTO winch and Hella driving lights. Jeep was painted about 15 years ago to its original red color and still looks great as I store it inside. Wheels, windshield frame, gear shift covers, etc. have been powder coated. Also included are 4 studded tire chains and a bikini top. I hate to sell my jeep but just do not use it anymore. These CJ3B’s are highly sought after and getting hard to find. No low ballers or dealers. Thank You”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.
Seller would prefer to sell locally.
“Hood numbers match frame serial. (I have another hood who’s number match the engine’s serial(I’m keeping that one.))
New Tub in 2008.
New wiring loom in 2008.
Gets new paint every few years.
Engine rebuilt in 2010 (hardened exhaust valves installed)
Canvas seats ~2005, still in very good condition.
Transmission rebuilt in 2004, (still pops out of 2nd if it feels crabby).
I never had the original bows and have not purchased a top or new bows.
Engine runs strong, needs a new radiator core.
Running with a solex carb but I have the original carter.
Electric fan installed on radiator to make parades while pulling a trailer a little less exciting (switch is hidden in glove box.)
Extra Paint/Parts go with the vehicle (except some original parts I have hanging on the wall in my shop.
It’s been an on and off project for long number of years, I just need the space for other projects. Anymore it comes out for parades and the odd trip to get ice cream.
I’d rather not ship.
Prefer to sell “locally” so I can meet the new family.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
“You’re looking at a 1947 willys jeep cj2a with a Howe firetruck apparatus (5 known to exist)… This jeep has 1423 original miles, not even ready for a oil change yet, but has been totally gone through. My grandfather bought this 15 years ago from the local stockyards that closed a long time ago. His dream was to fix it up and drive it in the local parade while advertising for his grocery store, he did just that. Grandpa died in 2007 and since then, I’ve been carrying on the tradition in driving it in the local parade with my family.. The time has come to let another family enjoy this thing, the decals are vinyl and can be removed easily. As long as you have a good 6volt battery, she fires right up and purrs like a kitten. A aftermarket CD player and speakers have been installed using a separate 12 volt battery and everything is removable with 0 screws to get back to 100% original in 5 minutes. The brakes stop just fine but are hard to apply(67yrs old and no power brakes) has a high and low transfer case, and 4 wheel drive that both go right in and work as they should. Windshield folds down and I believe everything works on this thing as it should. Comes with a lot of old fire fighting tools and adapters.”
Looks solid.

Ready to roll or excellent as a complete restoral project. Stored under roof.”
