UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**
Needs work.
“I bought this last spring from the estate of a guy that owned a trucking company here. He had this at his ranch for years and just used it for fencing in the rough country and in the summer had a fire fighting outfit that he slid in the box. I doubt that it was off his place more than a dozen times in all the years he owned it. He died and I bought this and a Willys pickup, a 58, that I also have for sale.
The son told me they hadn’t started this since Don died and maybe a couple years before that as he was sick for quite awhile. But the tires were up, it had a 5 year old battery in it and cranked right over once we replaced the battery and got some gas to the carb. The engine runs great, smooth and quiet, oil pressure is good. Radiator had antifreeze, etc. The only real problems were that the carb leaked gas pretty bad and the choke cable was sticky. I got a kit to rebuild the carb and will do that before this leaves or include the kit, what ever you want. It has NO brakes. Haven’t fooled with them. I’ve just been driving it around the ranch, don’t need brakes.
The is probably as close to an original, rust free 1960 FC as you are ever going to find. The cab corners are good, the floors are good — some surface rust but not much else – the box is solid, the rear bumper is solid and protected the fenders, etc. Tires are pretty nasty, you’ll need new ones. It has a couple extra wheels with it.
Its going to need some work, it has a couple dents here and there including the driver’s door one they all have and fair smack on the side of the cab roof. Not hard to fix but it is there.
AS near as I can tell it is almost totally original, they added an alternator and cut the engine hump a little to make clearance, the floor mats are worn out and there is a rip in one seat. The windshield is good, which doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Drivers side window is plexiglas or something. Not glass.
Take a look at the photos and see what you think. Jump in and bid or hit the buy it now. Shipping out of Montana is not all that expensive to most places, you can probably ship this anywhere in the US for under $1000. Or hook up your trailer and come get it. I will never have time to do anything with it, I have half a dozen Willys pickups and Jeeps and need to thin the herd. Doing up a CJ2A with my 15 year old in her school colors, that’s taking about all the time I have for old Jeeps.
I have a clear current Montana title in my name along with a set of Montana personalized plates that say 60FC170. I got those when I thought I was going to get it running and driving this summer.
Some of these photos were taken the day I got it, I’ve cleaned it up some since then. If you want more photos you can email me and I’ll try to get them to you.”
