Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I can’t tell a great deal from the pics, except that the colors match.
“1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep and 1949 Bantam Jeep trailer. Both stock. Six new military tires.”
Could they have taken the pictures from any farther away? It makes you wonder what some of these sellers are thinking when they market their 50 year old vehicles.
lol .. I suppose some are thinking … “I gotta get some people to come out and look at this thing if I’m gonna sell it, so I’d better make it look as good as possible by backing up as far away as possible.”
and others are thinking … “hmm, what pictures do I take? I only need to take one of the whole thing”
and still others are thinking .. “I don’t want to push this jeep into the open or out of the garage (it’s cold, it’s raining, or the broncos are playing football), so I’ll just snap a couple of quick pictures”
and still even more are thinking … “I should have bought batteries for the flash .. oh well, it won’t matter”
and then there are probably the few thinking … “I don’t really want to sell this, but I have to put an ad on Craigslist list or the wife will do it for me, so I’d better make these pics look as crappy as possible.”
Your last theory is the most likely Dave. But seriously, you would think that photos would be posted of all of the notorious problem areas, such as the floors and lower sides. 9 times out of 10, I find myself requesting close-up photos of these areas from the seller.
I know what you mean .. well, I guess I could put together a tutorial for people on how to prepare an ad for craigslist? Not much more I can do …
